CNN's Kiran Chetry, watching video of tasered student's pain: "Wow, was he a drama major?"
Was watching the early news and the tasered student story is being presented. So the video is rolling, the student is saying "Don't tase me, bro!" followed by a taser shock. The student erupts in howls of pain "Ow, ow, ow!!" and Chetry comes out with that gem.

Digraceful.

1. It's always easy for people to mock
When they have never experienced it.

3. Maybe Kiran was just impressed by his stage presence.
Did you ever think of that?

6. His whole shtick sounded like drama. I agree with others, he was
there to create a ruckus and get thrown out--he had an agenda.

20. Judging by his pre-taser histrionics....
He was either a LaRouchie (very possible) or the type of freelance narcissistic loon that thinks any public meeting is a platform for his wonderful self.

Not that this justifies the tasering, or Kerry's passivity. He should have firmly told the cops to back off and just as firmly told the jackass to shut the f**k up.

25. So what! The First Amendment applies to that within pretty broad limits.

That's politics. Think -- Lincoln Douglas debates

MR. DOUGLAS' REPLY.

MR. DOUGLAS - Fellow citizens: I will now occupy the half hour allotted to me in replying to Mr. Lincoln. The first point to which I will call your attention is, as to what I said about the organization of the Republican party in 1854, and the platform that was formed on the 5th of October, of that year, and I will then put the question to Mr. Lincoln, whether or not, he approves of each article in that platform ("he answered that already"), and ask for a specific answer. ("He has answered." "You cannot make him answer," &c.) I did not charge him with being a member of the committee which reported that platform. ("Yes, you did.") I charged that that platform was the platform of the Republican party adopted by them. The fact that it was the platform of the Republican party is not denied, but Mr. Lincoln now says, that although his name was on the committee which reported it, that he does not think he was there, but thinks he was in Tazewell, holding court. ("He said he was there.") Gentlemen, I ask your silence, and no interruption. Now, I want to remind Mr. Lincoln that he was at Springfield when that Convention was held and those resolutions adopted. ("You can't do it." "He wasn't there," &c.)

("Good.")

http://www.nps.gov/archive/liho/debate1.htm

And this is just what was in the transcript. The audience yelled out during the debates -- disrupted the debates with loud commentary repeatedly. The organizers of the debates and parties controlled the crowds.

Audiences today are extremely passive and law abiding. "Timid" is the word.

This student got carried away. He made accusations. But there is no reason to think he was an "agitator." That is the term that was used for Martin Luther King back in the day. All those "agitators" from the North were viewed as coming to the South to disrupt the peaceful society in the South. I am appalled that Democrats would condemn a student for being passionate about his views and questions. Maybe he was crazy, maybe he was even on drugs, but he was asking questions a lot of people ask every day. He should not have been arrested. Based on what I saw on the video, Kerry should have let him know that he was safe and OK and should have rebuked the officers. Now it is possible that I did not see everything.

29. He shouldn't have been tasered or arrested, of course.
And he shouldn't have been allowed to get "carried away" indefinitely either. He has free speech rights; he doesn't have the right to take up disproportionate time in a public meeting with his idiosyncratic concerns. I think a lot of us are recognizing in this kid -- perhaps unfairly -- the kind of bullying fringe ideologue that ends up dominating lefty organizations and meetings simply by their ability to shriek loudest and longest.

30. If he was crazy/on drugs, and insisted on staying, became belligerent and resisted arrest, then
you have a potential public safety concern. I don't know if law enforcement handled it properly, but they were there to protect Kerry and the other students from someone whom they decided might become violent. I hear what you're saying about how audiences in the past were more "interactive", but in today's lawsuit world, if this guy was hopped up on something, or armed, and hurt someone, a lot of people would say: "he was clearly acting crazy, why didn't the police stop him before he..."

But according to the Senator, he was tasered so maybe he wasn't but it did not sound "real".

He made some stupid crack about Hillary this morning and I had to just shut them off. Those two make me miss Soledad and Miles (and I thought I would never say that).

26. Question for Kiran, "Please allow police to taser you on tv so we can tel if you are acting?"
I am sure you know so much about tasers, you could remain calm during the application of the taser to your body and show us exactly how it is done 'without acting.'
