NATO Comes Clean on Cluster Bombs Dropped on Serbia
NATO Comes Clean on Cluster Bombs Dropped on Serbia
by Brian Brady

NATO chiefs will this week finally tell the Serbian government where they dropped thousands of cluster bombs during the Kosovo campaign, more than eight years after the bombardment finished.

Allied commanders have bowed to mounting pressure from foreign governments and pressure groups and will hand over full coordinates for the hundreds of bombing sorties. Belgrade hopes this could pinpoint thousands of unexploded munitions still littering parts of the country.

The pledge from NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (Shape) will end a delay condemned by human rights groups and described as “shameful” by one British minister.

The US, Britain and Holland are believed to have dropped more than 2,000 cluster bombs — containing 380,000 sub-munitions — during Operation Allied Force, the three-month campaign to end Serb oppression in Kosovo in 1999. The RAF dropped 531 RBL755 cluster bombs, designed principally to destroy tanks and other armored vehicles.

2. In that case ...
"In the most notorious incident, five ethnic Albanian children were killed during the campaign, when seven youngsters picked up one of the “yellow killers”, thinking it was a toy."

3. I fully understand where you're coming from, But
Serbian children shouldn't have to suffer for the choices of their former leader.

12. No problem.
Otherwise, I'm with you on the punishment to the Serbian Military. It's just a shame that the bomblets that don't explode too frequently arouse the curiosity of children.

4. Hey Redstone....
Ignorance is painful. Why don't you do some research? Kosovo and its Muslim population were the first sign of Muslim extremism in Europe. The shit the Serbs dealt with in terms of former Al-Qaeda from Bosnia and Albanian terrorists ( who are to this day still responsible for over 80% of the European heroin trade) were blowing up police barracks and killing Serbs way before Serbs started "ethnically cleansing" Albanians....which by the way belong in Albania. The US government bombed a sovereign European nation to supposedly stop ethnic cleansing....a policy officialy endorsed by the current US government in Iraq for the last 6 years. Look, listen and learn before posting such an ignorant comment.

11. It wasn't just the Albanians, It was the slaughter of Bosians, Croats, etc.
The Serbian military deserves the gallows for the Balkans war. And these are the fuckers who started WWI!

I agree with Redstone on the Serbian Military getting what it deserved.
