Curious: who here went to a local protest yesterday and was it
covered by your local media.

I'll start: San Francisco and not that I know of.

1. They didn't cover the 'treason' sign? Or 'Impeach' on the beach?

2. No that I've seen, except the Reuter's shot.
Nothing in the Chronicle yet. I haven't seen anything on local channels and no one has told me they caught it on CNN this time.

The upside is that we've put together quite a network since Brad started staging these events. In the end, the local media is just making itself obsolete because we go to alternate outlets.

3. I didn't go to any, nor did I watch any coverage. I was doing a lit
drop for our AG candidate Jack Conway. Our local Change For Kentucky did a psyops campaign on the Rep candidate Stan Lee. We have state elections this year to decide the governor, AG SoS, and other offices.

What we did is we selected precincts surrounding Lee's precinct and his precinct for a lit drop. So while Lee was out tailgating the UK UofL game, we are lit dropping him and his neighbors. We delivered nearly 2,000 door hangers. He doesn't think the Dems will campaign in his heavy Republican back yard.

Look for big gains for the Dems in Kentucky. If you want to help Kentucky turn blue, go to the Change For Kentucky link below.

I would have loved being at the demonstrations, but it is important that we depose Ernie Fletcher and his band of thugs.

10. Us Dems can multitask. We can demonstrate and do precinct work
at the same time.

and I marched against the war yesterday. You bet we can multi task. :)

splints were from walking faster than I should.

6. I watched for coverage on KTVU (CH 2 - San Francisco Fox affiliate)
They mentioned that there were protests in San Francisco and DC, but had no footage or interviews or anything. Instead they went to coverage of the homecoming of a Bay Area Marine who had just returned from Iraq. The Marine's dad said that the anti-war protesters had nothing to be upset about because they don't have any family members over there fighting. I could not believe what I was hearing. It was totally lopsided to cover only the RW talking points.

BTW, even though they are a Fox affiliate, KTVU usually does a pretty good job at being objective. They don't consider themselves to be a part of Fox News, as I have confronted their news roadies at demonstrations and that's what they told me.

Unfortunately, I didn't go to any demonstration yesterday. I may just be burned out on them at this point. I've been to dozens of the major anti-war demonstrations starting in 1967, but now the media is so controlled by the government that they just ignore the protests.

7. Thanks for the report! They implied to me they'd cover it
but I was too dead to flip the channels last night. They do a good job, particularly my cousin Sal on the morning show.

Maybe he or someone who attended will show up here.

11. Kansas City - yes and no
The media was there and I was interviewed. They aired brief reports but left my interview out. And since I am so important . . .

:)

Just kidding. Yes, we had media and yes they actually gave us coverage. It's a frickin miracle.

I figger, if we can get a list of events, then I can check the coverage and have something in hand to send to Media Matters.

Who covered you?

Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 04:19 PM by Cybergata
and gray haired ladies with walkers. The whole police intimidation was so uncalled for. We had about 100 people honk in approval to every 1 person that had a negative reply.

27. We had six guys sipping lattes and munching on biscotti
while they reapplied their sunscreen.

But, this is San Francisco.

lol

(I guess they figured we weren't going to try to disrupt any traffic or business and the worst that would happen is that one of us would fall into the bay.

:)

Since I have no idea what was being protested, I guess not to both questions.

Not that anyone protests much around here anyway.

28. Sorry to be unclear. Yesterday, there were numerous protests
against the war and for impeachment. I was just wondering who went where because the corporate media sure didn't tell us.

29. Today there are more than several stories about
protests around the country over the weekend. I forgot that most papers are understaffed any more and probably more so on weekends.
