Greenspan bashes Bush policies in memoir
WASHINGTON - Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, in his upcoming book, bashes President Bush for not responsibly handling the nation’s spending and racking up big budget deficits.

A self-described “libertarian Republican,” Greenspan takes his own party to task for forsaking conservative principles that favor small government.

“My biggest frustration remained the president’s unwillingness to wield his veto against out-of-control spending,” Greenspan wrote.

<snip>

“The Republicans in Congress lost their way,” Greenspan wrote. “They swapped principle for power. They ended up with neither. They deserved to lose.”

1. it's been his position for ages that deficits hurt the overall economy
so it's not surprising that he would "bash" an administration that runs on nothing but deficit spending.

3. I guess Greenspan would rather be remembered as an idiot than
...then the man who blew up the world financially by creating a system of complex debt and speculative paper IOUs for hundreds of trillions of dollars.

4. He is also very complimentary towards Clinton in the book
Calls the Economic Package of 1993 "political courage" and says Clinton has a great mind and was willing to try different things.
