Abu Ghraib vs. torture by Pinochet and other CIA assisted Dictators
This is from the Valech Report, a report on the torture of the Pinochet Dictatorship. A (Check) means that similar techniques have appeared in Abu Ghraib and other places where torture has been alleged in the "War on Terror".

* Repeated beatings (Check)
* Deliberate corporal lesions (Check)
* Bodily hangings (Check)
* Forced positions (Check)
* Application of electricity (Check)
* Threats (Check)
* Mock execution by firing squad
* Humiliation (Check)
* Stripping down to nakedness (Check)
* Sexual aggression and violence (Check)
* Witnessing and listening to torture committed on others (Check)
* Russian roulette
* Witnessing the execution of other detainees
* Confinement in subhuman conditions (Check)
* Deliberate privation of means of existence (Check)
* Sleep deprivation or interruption (Check)
* Asphyxia (Check)
* Exposure to extreme temperatures (Check)

And this checklist isn't complete, because we don't know 100% of what happened in Abu Ghraib and what is going on in these prisons today.

They say the ones doing the torturing were just a couple of bad apples. So why are the techniques of the torturers so similar to those used by CIA assisted Dictators?

What's really going on here?
