I didn't watch *'s speech because I know he doesn't intend to leave the ME ever, or at least not until the oil runs out. And his job now is to get us "comfortable" with staying there. Whatever. My question is, if we knew for a fact there were only 3 years of oil left for the planet to share, and after that it would be doomsday, what is the U.S. going to do? What if our politicians had the option to take control of the oil supply, allocating most of it to us so that we could live comfortably for 10-20 more years? It's easy to give the macho "bring it on" response, or the passive "it's stealing what isn't ours" response. But what about the majority of the country who do not own a plot of land, those who can't afford to sustain themselves in such a crisis. Really, if that happened, maybe sooner than we think, what would you expect our government to do?

And it will happen soon, that's what this is all about. I might be loony, but I think this was all planned 50 years ago, and that within the next 50 years oil will be an unimportant resource, but that the plan is to stretch it another 50 years by taking control of it until we have fully developed the technology to free ourselves from it.

If we deviate from that plan, I swear there will be another event like 9/11 or worse, that forces us back to the ME, just like Cheney threatened to let happen to us. We really all have to be good hard working citizens, close our eyes to it, and bear with their evil agenda.

Sorry, someone had to say it. It's implied all the time but seldom acknowledged directly. I'm getting tired of the dishonesty on the part of all politicians. They only care about the selfish, and those who aren't selfish don't matter to them.

1. These are oil guys. Makes alot more sense than anything they've
openly told us. Of course, they're going to charge us an arm and a leg, on top of the literal arms and legs they've already charged our soldiers and the Iraqi people. I really like driving. I've taken my family on long trips all over the country. Ltely I don't feel right about it, anymore.

2. It is all about money and the control of resources.

Wielding of power to meet the objectives of those in power. It is time to put an end to this oligarchy.

Edit to change "his" to "this"...

4. Thanks, I didn't mean to sound defeatist
If a really good candidate like Kucinich were elected he'd see us through this. But there was an agenda laid out long ago, I think, and people who are brave and/or peaceful were not considered in that agenda.

I'm sure by tomorrow I'll see a few flames in response. Like I said, I'm just getting tired of the double speak on the part of most leaders in both parties. If we are there for the oil it should be acknowledged directly. Even those who oppose Bush like Clinton, for instance, if they really opposed the plan to steal the MEs oil she would state it directly. Otherwise I know they're part of it.

3.  It's always been this way and it will continue , if not oil
then the next thing will be the water supply which will probably run out before the oil . We need water to survive , oil we can live without for the basic survival . No one cares about the working class hero , we are expendable in their grand scheme.

You have to remember this country was built on free slave labor , expendable life in their eyes .

6. Sad, but too true. Not sure if it's worse to have some understanding
of this, or to be like the vast majority of Americans who consistently vote against their own interests because the powers that be fire them up with rw nonsense. Of course, there is every possibility that even our elections are nothing more than an illusion/panacea.

8.  I really feel the elections and all politicians since Kennedy
Were an illusion . To me and it's not just the times of the 60's , Once Kennedy was shot and then MLK and RFK this was the end of america in so many ways .

We had hope and promise of a future for the better of all , since then It's been on huge game plan in the hands of the military industrial complex who really control everything including the government .

We were warned by FDR abouth this , he knew and we did nothing but become traumatized .

I can't think of a single admin that was for the people since then and now look where we are , everything has been systematically destroyed and privatized to the point where there is no plan to even put the train back on the tracks .

7. It's all about the ruling class vs. the common people.
Edited on Fri Sep-14-07 09:29 AM by sparosnare
For a brief shining moment in the history of this country, we had a president who gave the common people some power through his policies. Since then, the powerful have toiled to take away that power; seems their efforts are finally paying off. The corporations are winning.

It's all about money and power - the American people's lives are a commodity. War is the means to an end for them. Unless we get our shit together and come together to fight them, we lose. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
