Tony Snow: "..success in Iraq is vital to U.S. security, regardless of public opposition to the war"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20719860/

<snip>

At the White House, Bush met with House and Senate lawmakers of both parties to discuss Iraq. He publicly pledged to consider their input.

“It’s very important before I make up mind that I consult with leaders of the House and the Senate,” Bush said.

His spokesman, Tony Snow, said that Bush’s thinking has not changed: success in Iraq is vital to U.S. security, regardless of public opposition to the war. “If some of the steps he takes make him unpopular, he will accept that hit,” Snow said.

9. sure beats being sensitive to the needs opf the people
that would require a couple of things Bush doesn't have: empathy and the ability to listen.

Just shove it through, they'll whine, but they won't stop the king. They can't.

8. Let's see-- success in Iraq depends upon the willingness and ability of Iraqis
to fashion a political settlement of their differences, or so we hear from General Betrayus and Ambassador Crock. So I guess, Tony, if we accept your premise, our vital national interests have essentially been placed in the hands of a bunch of corrupt foreign politicians and their militias. Way to go Republicans!
