Mark Warner to announce his political plans Thursday

Sep 11, 2007 03:19 PM EDT

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Democrat Mark Warner will announce that he's a candidate on Thursday.

What's not yet confirmed is whether he's running for the Senate next year or an encore term as governor in 2009.

Monica Dixon, who heads Warner's political action committee, Forward Together, says the time and place for Warner's announcement have not been finalized.

Sources close to Warner say they expect he'll run for the Senate seat five-term Republican John Warner will vacate. The Warners aren't related

He's running. No way is he going to announce that he's waiting until 2009 to run for Guv. And he is the prohibitive favorite. Now if Jean Shaneen, who's running 20 to 30 pts ahead of Sununu in NH would just announce, we'd have 2 almost certain pickups.

1. Please, please, please run for Governor Mr. Warner!
Or even senator.

4. We agree on this
He should take the Republican Warner's seat pretty easily.
