The grilling of the Greek
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 06:44 AM by Wiregrass Willie
I'm not sure what Patraeus' nationality is -- but if it is Greek -- I wonder what the Anglo world's greatest army is doing with a Greek chief ? Maybe that is why Bush gave the job to him. Perhaps the Decider thought just because Alexander the Great did well among the Babylonians and Persians, this guy would scare the crap out of them. I have news for Dubya.

And last -- and hopefully least -- Ambassador Crocker (he must come from that great Southern family -- the Georgia Crockers) was a little on the "squishy" side.

4. wtf is wrong with you?
Seriously, you post some of the wackiest stuff. Oh, and Petraeus is not a Greek name. I'd guess its orgins are Latin/Germanic. His father was an immigrant from the Netherlands. I recognize that this is probably intended as some sort of satiric comment. It fails badly.

6. Mostly I was joking ...
I should realize by now that these political forums don't invite levity. I've noticed that most amateur political observers are a serious as jock itch. It's the professionals that do the laughing. All the way to the bank -- which ought to tell us something.

Anyway, the "s" on the end of the name -- preceded by a vowel -- made me think it may be Greek. Not that I care. I would have a natural distrust of anybody appointed by Bush, even if it was a relative of mine.

14. I'm not a gentleman, but yes I did make that suggestion

When you've been losing for 40 years, it's time to open the tent to anybody who can confuse the enemy. I still think that being Craig has done more damage to the GOP than any Democrat has, (or should I say "democratic"?) he would be a good candidate for membership
