Father, we especially lift up our President at this hour, and ask You to be with him and bless him as he prepares for tonight’s State of the Union message. Help him to seek to say only words that are pleasing in Your sight, and help him to rely on You alone right now.

We pray that You would grant him the wisdom and courage needed to continue to fight the war on terror, in Iraq and throughout the world. Help him to meditate on Your word and seek wise counsel as he leads, and grant him discernment so that he might lead in the solution of problems that seem insoluble.

..... Father, we pray for this nation. Lord, we are dismayed that those who do not honor life nor law are now in control of Congress, but we know that all things work together for good to those who love You and are called according to Your divine purpose.
