Stockton School Bans "Gang" Colors

At Stagg High School in Stockton, the colors red and blue are now completely off-limits.

School officials say the new school year brought with it an increase in the amount of red and blue clothing on campus. For that reason, Stagg has a strict new dress code that forbids those colors, as well as hats and sports jerseys (unless they're school hats or jerseys).

"It doesn't make me happy to restrict students," said Principal Jessica Anderson. "We'd like to give them as much freedom as they'd like to have. But when I weigh safety against freedom, safety takes precedence."

Students don't like the new rules for several reasons. They say they penalize non-gang members. They say the rules involve colors similar but not exactly red and blue. They also say the rules came too late for summer-time wardrobe planning.

2. Oh, that will take care of it.

Kids will never find a way around such a clever ruling. :sarcasm:

4. I live here,
Gang violence is rampant here, but I don't think this is the solution. We live in a neighborhood that used to be so quiet. Across the street from a grade school. New neighbors moved in across the street and we've had no peace since. They are white. But they are little gansters. We've called the police numerous times. They wear their colors and have absolutely no respect for anyone. We heard they've been evicted but its going to take some time to get them out. Also, Stagg is known for trouble with gangs. Typical republican city. The jails are full. Instead of focusing on rehabilitaion or intervention, they focus on punishment. I am so glad my kids are grown and no longer in this system.
