China warns of protectionist attitudes against it
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=276677

China's commerce minister has warned trading partners against using Chinese product quality scandals to promote protectionist policies against Beijing.

Bo Xilai told an Asian trade ministers' meeting in Manila that product quality issue is a global issue that affects every country in the world.

He said China does not agree that individual cases should be exaggerated for the excuse of taking trade protectionist measures.

4. China holds the mortgage on many of the homes in the US
and many of the businesses in the US.

Ever wonder how it feels to a country bullied by the US? Appears we are soon to be on the receiving end of such bullying by our landlord.

5. Warned? That's rich. They can warn in one hand and shit in the other,
and they'll end up with a nice warm handful....

Warn, indeed.

They need to 'git correct,' IMO.

10. Not if the dollar is the equivalent to the yuan, they can't.
Hell, they'll use those dollars to buy lottery tickets and go home. Or buy forclosed homes--can they take those with them? Why, no....

Hey, the money here goes to shit, we print more. It's already happening. They want to play a currency game, they'd best watch out. I swear, all of the BushCo crowd are already GONE from the dollah--they're trading in Euros. And for those of us who live here in MurCah, why, it doesn't matter, unless you have a taste for that furriner stuff..or travel, or are otherwise "global" in some fashion.

People adjust. Mark my words. Local, homespun, US made? TRENDY. For the Martha Stewart/Walmart/KMART/ Ladies Home Journal crowd.

Seriously. I'm not joking.

11. I was hoping the Mattel, dog food and fish scares would
open eyes. This stuff happens slowly. Maybe by the time the campaigns heat up, the candidates will be talking about the evils of lax trade laws.

12. They hold less than 4% of our national debt.
They can try to sell it but would have to take a loss of billions. As a matter of fact our treasury would be glad to buy it at a discount and retire the debt. Their holdings represent 20 to 25% of their economy so it would hurt them in the long run.

14. Actually, the poisons were brought here by US corporations
seeking to maximize their profits. That is their purpose, and the poisonings are the natural consequence. It is what they do, regardless of where they get their raw materials or finished products.

15. The poisoners on both sides should be imprisoned.
The American consumers were not complicit in this.
