Help me list reasons we should not try to Impeach bush
- not enough time
- we got better things to do
- would be a distraction from other things
- might make dems look bad
- his crimes are not that big of a deal, we need to nail pot smokers instead
- it would not work, so would be a waste of time. No reason to try if we can't win right?
- He will be out of office before we get it done, and we have a war to fund
- People will see us as being petty, and we want to impress people first and foremost
- His lies only killed a few hundred thousand people, and only less than 4000 Americans. What's the issue?
- You elected us to stop the war, we ain't got time for anything else right now.

I know there are more reasons we have heard, just trying to get them all in one place.

6. citizen's excuse vs elected official excuse
Citizen Excuse:

I don't SUPPORT impeachment because we don't have the VOTES

Elected Official Excuse:

I won't VOTE for impeachment because we don't have the SUPPORT

-------------

other excuses:

-- Impeachment? What does that have to do with the price increase of tea in China due to product recall?

-- ban Smoking because prohibition worked so well

-- eat Carrots not Caribou

-- Impeachment would distract from discussions about Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan and other more important news stories

-- the sky is falling and I don't have an umbrella

-- If we impeach bush/cheney - they will follow us home :scared:

11. Not enough votes in the Senate to impeach him, let alone convict.
Dems have a bare majority. Even with '08 elections coming up, republicans will follow * into Hell first before they vote for impeachment, even at their own peril.

Exactly. If we forget to follow the money, we risk being disappointed, hurt, disillusioned, and depressed. You know. Feeling like democrats. Get used to it . . . UNLESS WE FOLLOW THE MONEY.

That is why Edwards and Obama scare Rove far more than Hillary.

14. And The Purpose Of This Is???
Is this the DU equivelent of holding one's breath and turning purple and some how this will make that magical impeachment happen and the world will be one beautiful, harmonious place.

Let's try this question in some real world terms. To get impeachment, you need a majority in the Senate to convict...how do you propose getting the 68 votes to make this happen? Got a plan on how this happens? I'm all ears.

Where's The Exposure?
Other than ranting and ridiculing on a message board...what positive steps have been taken to move impeachment along?

How is the harassing of Democrats going? Is this the exposure you're hoping for?

Again...tell me how you get the 68 votes to convict...are we any closer today than yesterday? If so, let's get this show rolling.

44. The Question Please...
The 68 votes (67 plus one for good measure)...how close are we to having that as a reality? And whose being complicit here? Where were the protests around Arlen Specter or Susan Collins or a Jim Imhoffe? How about just 60 votes to break a fillibuster to get an up or down vote on fuding this illegal war for profit or starting to withdraw troops...things that can and should be done now. How does picketing Nancy Pelosi or going after other Democrats advance this goal?

Yes...the truth is there to be had and investigations have just begun to scratch the surface on the criminality. What's holding it back? Look across the aisle and there's your answer.

Sorry...the guilt trip doesn't work...not when the votes to convict aren't there. How does harassing Democratic Congresspeople affect change in the Senate?

Again...I'm looking for answers, not blame games here. WE both want impeachment. I also want a complete investigation into the crimes of this regime and all those, not just one or two figureheads, held accountable. The way for that to happen is to get the seats in the Senate to make a conviction possible and an Executive that will help expedite this matter...and allow the investigations to bring forth charges. Yes...a real impeachment with a real conviction. Nothing less.

Now again...how do you propose to get the 68 votes to convict?

Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 07:03 AM by Solly Mack
Pretending that war crimes are "mistakes" and "policy failures" - and that everything happening in America under a war criminal wanna-be tyrant is a 'normal' part of democracy, and not a reflection of a system of government that is broken because of massive corruption.

16. YOU FORGOT THE POWDER! Got to keep our powder dry.
if the powder is not dry, it will be wet. If it gets wet, then the GOP and the WHite House can tell us what to do in congress, even if we have a majority. Imagine if our powder was wet and the WH tried to exapnd domestic surveillance without warrants? Just IMAGINE. IF our powder was wet, we could not have stopped that unspeakable attack on constitutional rights and privacy. Instead, by keeping our powder dry, we stopped them on FISA.

Gotta remember the powder.
