Pelosi's plane, Anna Nicole's death, non-binding resolutions --what do they all have in common????
None of these topics occupying front page space is the most important topic we need to address today -- IRAN.

If we allow these other 'non-issues' to take up all the 'oxygen' in the news, we are missing out on the one matter which we can still do something about, that is avert an attack on Iran.

If DU posters are unable to take their attention away from these other issues, what do you think the chances are that the average member of the public will do so? Not to mention the complicity of the MSM to keep the attention off Iran, on these other issues.

I fear time is running out as our 'Roman-like' public remains fixated on entertainment/news items, and neglects the real issue that will have life and death consequences for all of us for years to come. I sure hope I am wrong.

3. While the MSM is keeping 'US' occupied with other stuff...........
WWIII is ONLY a 'MISUNDERSTANDING' away from becoming reality. I hope BOTH parties keep their finger off the trigger.

4. If you agree with the purpose of this thread, please recommend it or another Iran thread here ...
WE need to get out attention back on the slow motion disaster that Iran is becoming.

Somehow, someway we need to refocus on the things that can make a difference.

5. Of course Iran and stopping an attack on them is....
of extreme importance but I'm capable of reading other news and still concentrate on what is most important.

8. That is why newspapers have more than one page, and tv news lasts more than 1 minute...
However, there is the rule of primacy -- that which leads is usually the most important to most people. Ask most people what the story was on page 13 of the news paper, or the story presented just before the weather forecast on the local tv news, and most could not tell you.

I am not for limiting news in any way. If anything I am for more news.

I am just saying that the importance of what is happening with Iran should be greater than the other stories now occupying the number one spot.

And further, very knowledgeable and trusted individuals are speaking out on this ticking timebomb presented by Iran and cannot get coverage from our so-called news sources.

9. I see your point now and agree with it......
and that is the fault of the news sources. Do you suppose they feel their readers or listeners wouldn't be interested in the Iran situation? If they think that way I believe they are wrong, many people in this country, not to mention around the world, would be speaking out if given the facts by knowledgeable and trusted individuals.

10. The Iran news suppression is happening primarily only in the US...
News sources in Europe and the rest of the world are all over the Iran issue.

Israel has issued official public statements regarding a coming attack on Iran every few days for months.

The world is watching what Americans allow Bush to do next, and wonder why there is no outrage.

The bottom line is the US MSM is complicit in making it possible for Bush to move ahead in his plans for Iran.

11. The MSM has been complicit in making things possible for Bush...
since 9/11. Probably even before that with their hatchet job on Gore. They are no longer interested in presenting the truth or facts to the public. I would think they would be trying their best to prevent the catastrophe that an attack on Iran would be. I can't imagine they believe it is making this country and the world safer but I guess that is their mindset.

12. It is the interests of the corporate owners of the MSM that is driving Bush protection....
Bush made media consolidation and/or monopolization possible, and allowed huge corporate interests to 'use' the media to carry out their goals. In return for supporting Bush unconditionally, Bush has made them very rich and very powerful --which if they actually performed real journalistic duties of a free press would be contra to their corporate goals.

It is a marriage of MSM and Bush based upon the concept of 'quid pro quo'--- they each get something for doing something for the other.

16. It seems there is no stopping the corporations from what...
they are doing. I know many good people, who are not right wingers, think Fox News is great. They really believe they are getting "fair and balanced" news. They think I am crazy when I rant against Fox News. They do agree with my rants against Rush but not Fox News. On DU, Maureen Dowd has become acceptable even though she was involved with smearing Al Gore. I can't take much of her since then. I think some inroads are being made with the internet but not enough right now to reach as many as the MSM. Keith Olbermann is making some headway. The MSM will probably keep up their Iran is evil and must be stopped, or they will blow us up with nuclear weapons and they are behind the insurgents in Iraq, blah, blah, blah. I don't know what the answer is to all of this.

6. What ever happened to Gary Condit and Shandra Levy?
They kept the news busy for several weeks and months leading up to 9/11 and then disappeared when the fear took over. How long until the "real news" breaks? By "real news" I mean how long until the next attack or war? The "news" of Anna and the plane are getting stale. Plus, how bad is it when the MSM spends all day covering the same garbage as does Entertainment Tonight?
