Bush Managed to Really Piss Off Kansas City
Apparently he was staying down on the Plaza - an uppercrust area just south of downtown. And for some reason they decided to go eat breakfast at the Corner Cafe in Riverside - a small town adjacent to KC north of the river.

To get there they managed to tie up all the major roads into and out of KC downtown right in the middle of morning rush hour. I guess (according to our paper this morning) that tens of thousands of people trying to get to work got stuck waiting for his parade.

They got to the restaurant and Bush said he wasn't going to eat. So the waitress told him he should at least have biscuit since they have the best biscuits in town. So Bush got a biscuit and when it came he told the waitress that it wasn't very big. And she told him that "this wasn't Texas, you know."

Everyone is just really glad he is gone. Now, hopefully he will just stay away.

7. Well, it was some kind of meeting with some Bush supporters in
KC (Geroge Brett for one) and he may have already eaten.

I guess he left a pretty good tip.

This is funny because Riverside used to be just a wide open red neck hangout. The Red X is the biggest store there and sell every kind of booze in the world.

And the place was full of wide open strip club, mud wrestling, you name it kind of places. The people that live in Riverside are still pretty red necky. Although they built a casino and that has brought in a lot of extra income. So now there are some new, more upper middleclass, housing areas being built.

I have no idea whose idea it was to eat in Riverside - that was just so odd. But the Corner Cafe is pretty famous up here for its home cooking and really big servings.

10. I guess the tip was supposed to buy him some class
Only high-profile politicians with none visit a popular local hangout and insult the food.

3. Is Chimpie getting paranoid about eating with the *unwashed*?
Or was he just thinking about hitting the wetbar in his limo?

8. Maybe someone thought the Corner Cafe would be like someplace
he would eat in Crawford. The poor owner of the place didn't even have any advance warning that they were coming. That is a pretty good sized restaurant. But it is very simple - lots of booths and just kind of your average Middle America kind of family place. They do have excellent ice tea. I go there to eat pretty often.

They do serve good food and lots of it. But it is pretty heavy stuff - lots of gravey and biscuits - what they call homestyle cooking around here.

13. Actually, he seemed to be a pretty big hit at the VFW hall.
Lots of active duty soldiers were there. He shook a lot of hands and signed a lot of autographs.

The news here tries to be friendly to him when he comes to town. But the paper this morning really trashed him.

9. My contractor was stuck
in it. He was headed to pick up some galvanized metal for me and saw what was happening so he ended up taking the route that wraps around North then came back in to the center got his stuff and came home North as well. He said that 670 was shut down and I 70 was standstill for miles and miles and it was still like that when he came back through.

The king Little Lord Pissypants must keep the peons away. What a hell of a life, to be so bad and evil that you have to go to those lengths to do anything. Wouldn't you think that would be one great big message?

12. I was stuck in it, too. But I was headed over to the Riverside
library - which is right across the street from the restaurant.

Wouldn't have been so bad but it was really hot yesterday morning.

I had no idea that he had caused such a huge mess on the freeways.

17. I live about 2 miles
from the old Air Force Base (now the National Guard Refueling wing) here and when Bush** landed here they had secret service crawling all over the farms here. I walked out of my barn and across the pasture that lines the road to goes to the AFB were a bunch of men in black suits. It was so funny. Just me and my critters out here. Some of them were sitting on the neighbors tractors and hanging out behind the barn looking around. It was funny since there is absolutely nobody around here (maybe that is why they thought there might be terrorists in the pastures lol) but it was also a little unnerving. I had no way out of my farm to get home for several hours, this part of the county was essentially on lock down.

Bush** is such an asshole. I have been here when Clinton came through when he was Pres and when Poppy came through when he was Pres and all they ever did was make traffic pull over. People got out of their cars to watch and wave. Kerry came through, Edwards, Clark, Dean and most of the Republicans too. Lots of people like that stop here if only to catch a copter to the Fort and never is there anything like that. Just for Bush**. I would hate his life.

14. That happens every time he visits here.
And it happens everywhere he goes. He ties up everything and it's not "oh boy, the prezzies coming" it is "oh shit, how long will he be here."
