Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Emanuel on Iraq & September
August 16th, 2007 by Jesse Lee

Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

“The question for September is: ‘Why should our troops risk their lives in a civil war when the Iraqi government refuses to take the political steps necessary to end the sectarian violence?’ We must have a candid assessment of the ongoing situation in Iraq and it is increasingly unclear whether the September report will provide that.”

Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel:

“From the inaccurate prediction that we would be greeted as liberators, to the claim about weapons of mass destruction, to the ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner, the war in Iraq has seen too many reports and rosy assessments that put spin first and facts second. Unfortunately, the White House intends to continue this pattern. The American people have had four years of spin and slogans. Now, they are ready for the truth — the good, the bad and the ugly. The President’s report should provide a complete picture of Iraq’s security and political progress.”

1. Ungrateful Iraqis! Why do they make us invade and kill them?
:sarcasm:

2. I'm more annoyed at Emanuel's statement. Sounds like he's holding
out hope that he'll get the truth. Not likely.
As for Pelosi, it would be nice if she just told the truth about this failed admin, and so much easier, too.

nearly anything.
