64 more unidentified bodies buried in Karbala

Karbala, Feb 8, (VOI) – A Karbala governorate official said 64 more unidentified bodies were buried on Thursday in the city cemetery.

"64 unidentified bodies were buried today in the Karbala major cemetery of (al-Wadi al-Jadid-the New Valley) after they were sent from a Baghdad morgue," the source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

Al-Wadi al-Jadid is a major cemetery where a large number of the Shiite Muslims in Iraq bury their deaths for blessings as Karbala hosts the Shiite most sacred shrine where Imam Hussein, grandson of Prophet Mohammed, is buried.

...

Before burial of the bodies, the source pointed out, "photos were taken for the bodies and the graves were numerated for facilitating enquiries by relatives looking for their beloved ones."

The number of the unidentified bodies that have been buried only in Karbala since June 2006 reached 2043.
