did I 'mis-hear' Tweety last night?
did he or did he not say, rather proudly, that he'd grown up in a Republican Family?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I was just surprised to hear him state it so forcefully...but I suppose I shouldn't be, since all of politics is, of course, all about HIM!

HA!

6. Yeah.. and you know what else?
He also is big with his pseudo-Philly 'roots'. I've opined on this in other threads...suffice it to say he's no more a Philadelphian, than I'm from Kansas. That's not to say that he wasn't born and raised around here, he's just not a Philly boy in any way, shape, or form. Even more innaressing (sic) he gets no credit here as being a Philadelphian...ever.

10. It was funny:
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 06:27 AM by PCIntern
Ed Rendell, our present guv, was slated from the beginning, before he was mayor of Philly, to bring gambling into the Commonwealth. Tweetybro ran for the position of Lt. Guv with Lynn Swann who was the sacrifical lamb 'cause no one, and I mean NO ONE in power wanted Eddy to lose.

The joke was on Tweety...his bro looked like a fool.

9. His brother ran for Governor in Pa in the (R) primaries.
So I would not doubt for a minute that he grew up in a republican family.

11. No Wonder He Has A Ghouliani Crush
Yes, I heard say his family were Repugnicans...and this explains a lot about where he comes from. Add to this his regular references to his Catholicism. So despite working for Democrats, he's was never really one of us (except for the paycheck) and how Clinton's anti-abortion and "womanizing" (adultry) really wrangled his chains. It also somewhat explains the patriarchial view of the world...where women walk behind the man...and why he keeps refering to Hillary as an "uppity woman". He's got a lot more in common with William O'Donohue and his "savior" St. Rudy Ghouliani.

Not that I needed any reason to not trust Tweety...his mancrush on this regime and his Sybil personality shot any small amount of credibility he ever had...this just puts the icing on that cake.

and I believe that he is the repulsive of the so-called middle-of-the-road 'commentators' on the air. He is FAUX-everything: FAUX Philadelphian, FAUX even-handed, FAUX competent, FAUX male...

13. He Worse Than Faux
Except for the 29% dead-enders, a vast majority view Faux now as a joke...a GOOP propaganda outlet. Tweety works for a "respected" network and news operation...General Electric...and thus he isn't dismissed as the partisan he really is. For years he used his work for O'Neill as his "bona fides" that he could speak as a Democrat or with some credibility on Democratic issues and this is where the big deception lies.

I'm glad he finally came clean and we now have it on record of his true feelings...hopefully others will see/hear this as well.

The Howler (http://www.dailyhowler.com/index.shtml) has been nailing Tweety regularly on his boorish behavior...well worth reading.

Cheers...

14. Tweety is *worse* than BillO? Worse than Hannity?
Come on. I watch Hardball almost every day and I just don't see it. I can't even look at the awful right-wing shills on The Noise. Tweety usually (usually) makes sense and is usually (usually) on "our side".

I also like his obscure cultural references that come from nowhere. Hah!

15. Stalking Horse
We know where BillO and Hannity are. They're biased and no one even questions it anymore. If you want some GOOP talking points and pavlovian "reinforcement", you watch Faux and live in denial.

I've watched Tweety from his early days with McLaughlin. While you make think he makes sense, I've always found the guy to speak first and think second. Whatever "sense" he makes is based in the power-politics of his beltway world and what he and his small fishbowl of friends and contacts think are important rather than looking at issues objectively and balanced.

The fact you think he's "usually" making sense and "on our side" (he never is...he's on his own side) just shows how much you've been fooled into thinking he's down the middle.

16. Wow, someone else who likes Tweety!
He's the only non-liberal pundit I can stand. Well, to be truthful, I ENJOY him! He holds the Repugs' feet to the fire more often than not, demanding that they answer the question he ASKED instead of spinning it away. He's taken them to task more than once for saying Democrat instead of Democratic. He challenges the talking points. I swear he picks on Repukes much more than Dems. I like it when he interrupts the guests -- they're usually droning talking points & stretching out their answers and you know where they're going anyway. His interviews MOVE as a result. Rarely do I curse at him; I'm usually cheering him on.

Yeah, the Bush/etc. man-crushes annoy me, but he's just so damn enthusiastic it's almost cute. His harping on Sen. Clinton's "shrillness" makes me want to kick him even though I'm no Hillary fan. I wish he'd stop inviting cross-eyed idiot Ron Christie. But I'll take Tweety over pompous Scarborough & stupid Tucker Carlson any day.

I think Tweety gets a kick out of the whole political process, and I find him very entertaining... drool and all.

I also like that he NEVER has celebrity fluff reports.

Like all good debaters he looks for the most vulnerable part of your argument and attacks it relentlessly, ergo:

19. Yeah, right about the time he makes me mad and I swear off
ever watching him again, he says something I like, or as you said, holds a Repub to account instead of letting them skirt. He did that last night, also, in making this guy say why we are in Iraq, and he replied it was for military positioning in the ME.

20. We watch him every evening at our house.
We really like his show. It is fast moving and entertaining. He has consistently been against the Iraq occupation. He always makes a point of asking Repukes how they thought occupying a country was ever going to work out. I don't agree with everything he says but he loves politics and his show is enjoyable. I would never not watch a show because the host says something that I don't like on occasion. We should all watch and listen to a variety of media to gather as accurate a portrayal of events in our country. BTW....We always make fun of Ron Christie's wandering eye!! I don't think we hear a word he is saying because we are so busy imitating him and laughing at him! Too funny.

21. Your post is spot on except, IMO
for the notion of him being 'agaisnt' the occupation. He consistently beat the crap out of the naysayers during the run-up to the War and then expressed reservations at the end of each show. It was a studied move...he could have his cake and eat it too.
