do not reply to it. Usually those are just random and looking for email addresses.

Also, please note that the person who appeared to send that email may not have - his/her computer may have a virus which sends out false emails, or their account name may just be being spoofed by another computer.

It's unlikely to be a real pedophile, but I guess it probably could not hurt to report.

9. A lot of spam like that isn't actually for the intended purpose

A few years back there was a lot of joe-job spams - where Spammer A would spoof advertisements for Incredibly Illegal Things and try to make all the indications point to Spammer B (or Civilian B or whatever), with the intent of getting either a competitor or an enemy in trouble. Not all, but certainly most, of the spam for things like kiddy porn or stolen credit cards or contract assassinations or whatever other silliness would be of those types.

I'd report it anyway. It's probably not actually offering the, uh, services it claims to, but it is likely to be either some sort of financial fraud, which is illegal, or an attempt to defame someone else, which is also illegal. Or it could actually be what it claims to be, which is still illegal.

I keep reporting them, and lately haven't had any. But, mostly mine were to go to certain websites to see pics of kids.

While that stuff bothers me, I am glad to get the emails so I can report them.

Usually I get the Nigerian scam, get rich "quick", or my latest rash of "a classmate sent you a card, click on this link". The link turns out to have a windows remote assistance activex control embedded in it!
