Please critique my letter to the editor on Iraq

The people who promoted the Iraq invasion have told us the following: That Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction and that he was an immediate, urgent and unique threat; that we would be welcomed by the Iraqi people; that our troops would be home in a matter of weeks, if not months; that the insurgency was just a few dead-enders and that it was later in its last throes; that Iraqi oil revenues would pay for it all; that the tensions between Sunni and Shia were overblown; and that we have turned a corner when Iraq wrote its Constitution or when they had elections. In every instance, those people have been dead wrong and nearly 4,000 Americans and three quarters of a million Iraqis have paid for these mistakes and lies with their lives. Yes now, these very same people say that mass chaos and genocide would happen if we left Iraq. Why should we trust anything these people say when they have been so completely wrong before?

And - hasn't one third of the Iraqi population been displaced? 40%? Can't remember the figure but it's gobsmacking.

6. "They" tell us terrible things will happen if we rush out of Iraq

they were deaf to people who have been proven right who said that terrible things would happen if we rush into Iraq.
