All due respect to Dru Sjodin's parents, we don't need new laws

The fact that Dru Sjodin's murderer got the Death Penalty is proof, at least for DP advocates, that the current laws work.

Yet there is a new Dru Sjodin Law which creates a national sex offender database. This already exists, and has been around for quite a while. Although it was initially created for Child Molesters, it has grown to include sex offenders of all types, including those who expose themselves in public (which means if you urinate in a park on some night of drunken revelry, you're on that list.)

1. We need a new law for every crime commited, and for many acts not yet crimes.

When you have enough laws, it makes it easier to find some reason to arrest you if they want you arrested.

I thought only states had such registries. I believe Canada has a national one.
