This summer is building up to be "The Perfect Storm"
Again, Bush is going on his August vacation, which should make us quiver in our boots.
There is extreme weather all over the country. Tornados in New York?:scared:
Texas is real hot again...we had a reprieve in June but it is kicking our ass this month.
Hurricane season, I fear, will come like the grim reaper...fueled by the extreme weather.
The question is, is it going to finally hit New York...or will it just destroy more of the Gulf Coast?
Only time will tell.
Oh, and by the way, the economy is taking a dump as we sit.
Where is our Federal Government?
On vacation of course.
Good luck Americans.
You're on your own.

1. You're on your own.
Pretty much status quo under the Bush Dicktatorship, eh?

He's done nothing for the American people, he's just looked after his cronies and corporate buds.

2. No kidding. I have to replace the cigs and cash in my emergency
kit. And hope nothing happens until this sprained ankle heals up. We really are on our own.

11. It wouldn't be as bad if we were just left on our own but
instead of just leaving the American people to sink or swim, this gang of criminals has stolen our life preservers and asked us to keep their gold afloat to boot. They've taken all our money and dispersed it among themselves and their criminal friends, sent our national guard and military half way around the world to sit as sweating targets refereeing a civil war with inadequate armor and equipment, pushed through tax cuts for the rich and their corporate masters as our infrastructure crumbles, exported our better jobs to our largest economic competitor, borrowed unfathomable amounts of money from that competitor, not only ignored the global climate crisis but has done everything it can to speed along our little roller coaster ride to hell on well oiled tracks, all the while breaking this country's laws and wiping their collective asses with our Constitution.

How much more will John and Jane Q. Citizen take? I have a feeling we'll start to find out this fall.

I hope your ankle heals up quickly.

4. so let me get this straight
Edited on Fri Aug-10-07 02:42 PM by peacetheonlyway
you're saying that hurricanes will interrupt oil supply driving
cost per barrell above $100

which triggers an already worldwide cash depression already spawned by guaranteed bank failures resulting from subprime lending

the federal reserve is pumping what last cash existed in our social security funds to save the banks, so sometime this summer someone will publish a report that Social security will run out not in 20050 when it was initially reported but more like next tuesday

so we will have old people without their social security checks,
trying to get in their car to drive away from the tornadoes in texas
but they can't afford to buy the gas

so they book an airplane ticket and cant' get on the flight because Choicepoint and the others have listed names like john smith and every derivation on the nofly list.

basically we're all screwed.

is that what you are saying?

so what else is new?

we've been on our own since not too long after 1776.

Climatologically (and politically) speaking.

6. And what if that long awaited follow-up attack happens?
Remember all our Democratic pals in Congress said it was too dicey not to hand Stupidhead another six months' worth of constitution-busting spying authority because another terrorist attack would be blamed on the Democrats. Well, what if another attack happens while Stupidhead is off cuttin' brush and bikin' around?

The Bush administration will:

A. Spring into action and bring the malefactors to justice toot fucking sweet;

B. Blame the Democrats for allowing this tragedy to happen;

C. Order another round of tax cuts for their cronies.

Pick any two out of the three.

7. I shudder to think
Because if we have another infrastructure malfunction...or a complete collapse of the economy, I can see many FINALLY taking to the streets.
Unless of course something happened BEFORE that...

10. Guaranteed that Florida won't get the attention under Crist that it did under Bush
Especially since he hasn't embraced Bush's "legacy" and has set about to changing Florida.
I feel sorry for the folks down there if it hits.
Florida will be a-la-Katrina.

17. We had a freakin' tornado yesterday in Pittsburgh!!!
It hit parts of downtown, destroying a couple houses and ripping the side of a museum. I think it might be the first one ever recorded here. The topography here is extremely non-conducive to tornados. Crazy, crazy weather this week in general. :wtf:

18. I live in Florida
About A mile from the water and hurricane hysteria is nothing new here.
But this year instead of being nonchalant and riding it out like I always do I am going to get in my piece of crap and bug out. For some reason I can't muster the courage to sit in my house while the world blows away anymore.
The city of Gulfport Miss. was almost completely destroyed and very little has been done there. I live in A town very similar to Gulfport and if it is blown away I will not come back because I have no faith in local, state,or federal government to help lower income working people like me get back on our feet.
