Dems in Congress: What will they do after Petraeus' report mid-September?
Are they caving or are they fighting to stop this atrocity?

1. You know those goalposts are gonna get moved
We need to jump on the Dems now to keep them from collapsing once again.

I know, you're angry, I'm trying to hang on to the last shred of optimism I have.

the FISA Bill and THEY DID!@#$%^%$#

Every time I think they will do what they should do, they don't and every time I KNOW they won't give in to the psycho again, they DO. Honestly? I have just given up on hoping the Dems will do anything they should do. No Impeaching Gonzo. No Impeaching the Dickhead. No Impeaching the psycho. No undoing the FISA Bill. No getting us out of Iraq. No Inherent Contempt hearings. It's all a show (for US). They have no intentions of doing any of the aforementioned things. None whatsoever. IF they do, I will be the first to apologize for doubting them, but at this point, sadly, I'm not counting on having to apologize.

4. bush already laid out HIS plan in HIS speech today.....
Petraeus' report mid-September will say the 'surge' is working; what else would you expect? If the Dems don't fund HIS 'war'; the Dems are NOT supporting the troops. It's reelection time; Dems cave......again!

5. They'll probably do what they're good at - caving in completely.
They ought to go into the Colorado coal mine business.

I'll believe they fight to stop this atrocity when I actually see it with my own eyes. All the rationalization and justifications and political two-stepping in the world won't change that. They probably still think we out here in Constituent Land won't really notice - OR understand.

All I have been led to understand so far is that they're good at fucking CAVING.

8. What, and end all this progress?
General Betrayus will say we have turned the corner. All we'll have left to do is stay the course.

10. Durbin and Casey seem to know the deal.
They went, they saw, they're sticking with their story. I think their position is that while in Iraq recently they saw some strictly military progress but they know it can't be sustained without large numbers of U.S. troops committed over many, many years. And there is no real political progress or commitment and perhaps even deterioration. They still favor withdrawal.

13. They will send Busholini more money.
The majority of Dems will not do anything to end the US Occupation of Iraq. They may talk about ending it but at the deadline they will support the Fiasco.

14. 'We're makin progress.' :sarcasm:
'Give it a chance to work.' :sarcasm:

'If we leave now there will be chaos and they will follow us home.' :sarcasm:

I would love for my congresscritters to say 'ENOUGH!', but I don't see that happening. Death and destruction are good for bidness.

Get. The. Fuck. Out. NOW!

16. My prediction:
Edited on Fri Aug-10-07 01:57 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
1. Petraeus will betray us and lie through his teeth because that is why he was picked.
2. Bush will hold him up as his expert and say we need to make the General happy (as he did with McConnel).
3. We will rant and rave and scream that it is a trick...suggesting a lot of methods for stoping the war from continuing that our Democratic representatives are not even aware of.
4. Pelosi and Reid will allow a vote on it and we will lose because Blue Dogs and DLCers will betray us out of concern for soldiers sitting in Iraq without toothbrushes.
5. The war will be extended another 1-2 Friendman units (1 Friedman unit=6 months).
6. Lather, rinse, repeat until election 2008.

I wish I could be more optimistic, but after 7 years of constant backing down, I will assume the worst and hope to be pleasantly surprised. We have serious problems with information not getting to our reps from the blogosphere. This is the result of high-paid Democratic consultants who are constantly wrong on each and every political issue, but still keep their jobs and still keep the ears of their clients.

Either the Democrats are complicit, incompetent, or they are listening to a bunch of Grima Wormtongues. Maybe a mixture of all three depending on the rep. I only trust the Progressive Caucus and about ten senators to do the right thing if they know what the right thing is.

A sad commentary, but a true one from my perspective.

18. Given that they have given more money and more troops
for this morally bankrupt war, I expect more of the same. I think in this new America, the republicans and democrats are committed to going forward with the world domination scheme. The only difference between these twins you'll notice will be nuanced differences.
