Senator Jim Bunning: "Little Green Doctors Are Pounding at My Back"

Stay Away From Fancy Farm

09 Aug 2007 05:38 pm

Let me be the first to admit that I have no idea what this is all about, but it sure is weird:
Video

Matt Stoller put this together and explains that Fancy Farm "is a large and raucus political festival in Kentucky."

K!

1. Word has it that Bunning was heckled
one of the years he was at the "Fancy Farm". We can almost be SURE there were NO little green doctors. What could he have possibly been referring to? I actually think he is crazy.

2. Oh yeah.
He's definitely in dementia. There is no other rational explanation for a statement like that.

4. I was born in Fancy Farm Ky
Every year on the first Saturday of August the local Catholic Church holds a fund raising picnic. Games for the kids, bingo for prizes, a car is raffled, lots of food (especially BBQ) and there is always a forum for politicians to speak at. On election years if often draws 20 thousand people and is the largest such picnic in the western part of KY. Basically if you are running for statewide office in Ky you go and make a speech or at least shake hands and have your people hand out buttons and fans with your name on it.
One good thing is that the western part of KY is very democratic leaning. So Republican like Bunning enter at their own risk. That is why he is afraid to go back. He was heckled by the crowd last time he was there.
I think the picnic is about 120 years old now. Quite a tradition in that part of the state.
