Cordesman on CSpan - holy shiite!
talk about telling the painful, hard, truths.

his compatriots were spinners, but he seems to be a straight shooter.

"If we can barely hold on to parts of Baghdad, and only with the temporary, surprise assistance of Sunni militia, it does not bode well for you future there"

wow.

1. Cordesman has always seemed to be a pretty sober and rational talking head.
How much longer can the spinners continue?

3. CNN, glad to say, reported that he disagreed with O'Hanlon and Pollack
earlier this week. To be honest, I'm not sure what the big deal is. I expect military gains--we do have a kick-ass and professional military, I'm proud to say. But ultimately, it's meaningless. We can stay there for a while longer, and continue to try to keep a tenuous grasp on "security", or we can start coming home and stop shedding our blood for a Parliament that can't bother to work together and make concessions to fucking get something done. I vote for the latter.

4. you can write strategies for Iraq for next 2 yrs, or until hell freezes over,
but that won't accomplish anything.

How the hell did the Bush Admin allow a straight shooter like him in the country? This must be setting Rovian nd Cheneyian teeth a grinding.

somone else's country, different culture - a dangerous illusion.
