And here comes china stating that they may trash the US dollar?

perhaps someone in the know in higher places knew that china was going to make a comment about dumping some of the US debt and now there is a concerted effort by the gov't to publish all these various negative stories about chinese products.

I don't trust anyone anymore. I think all this is bullshit.

I believe the chinese products were always a pile of shit and we have always been getting tainted food and poorly manufactured products. There was probably in the information pipeline about china and our debt about to hit the fan, so the state dept, dept of interior, one of the alphabet agencies, whatever, etc, decided to do a character assassination on china with all of these negative reports to drive down the demand for their products.

This accomplishes two things. 1) the "two can play at this game" game and 2) another way to even out the trade deficit (even though most of our trade deficit is cause by us importing oil, sssshhhh)

Nothing falls out of the sky folks.

1. Chinese auto parts
have been junk for at least 10 years. That's what my husband says. He insists on German or Japanese parts, because Chinese steel is inferior.

2. Is it character assassination if it is true?
BTW: My dog developed kidney failure and died several months before the melamine tainted pet food story came out. As she had always prefered one of the "gravy" style dog foods to all others, she probably died as a result of the Chinese tainted glutens.

Then there was the children's cough medicine that killed children in China, Central, and South America.

And the tainted toothpaste. And the tainted seafood.

Sorry. I don't feel any sympathy for this alleged "character assassination."

If US manufacturers (are there any left?) did the same, I'd have no sympathy for them either.

It is possible that the Chinese are the ones playing "tit for tat" in threatening to dump US debt because the US and the whole word are making noise about the lack of safty in Chinese products.

The noise about tainted Chinese products has been out for several months now. The noise about China planning to trash the US dollar has been out for less than a week.

So which came first? The chicken or the egg?

4. I find it more interesting that a few years back it was *'s uncle who was put
in charge of setting up trade and markets with the Chinese.

5. Hmmm...
And the self-regulation deal hit at about the same time? Am I correct in that memory?

Between our debt and our trade agreements, we don't own a damn thing in the good ol' USA anymore.

Better start learning Chinese... I understand it's one of the more difficult languages to learn. Only those who bow to the new overlords will be safe... sort of.

7. Interesting...
An initial Googling of "Prescott Bush Jr." in the news yeilds nothing... yet you were able to find something on "Bush Uncle in China". Intentional? I think so.
