My 10,000th post: 8 years ago today the best woman in the world married me

This thread is dedicated to all the great wives who put up with far too much from us idiot males and still manage to love us anyway.

And I have been that believe me, in spades at times.

Mrs. Shadow you�ve not had an easy time of it I know, and this letter of appreciation is a long time coming. I was originally going to email it to you but I figured, being the eccentric flake that apparently you are attracted to I decided to proclaim my love for you to 100,000 of my closest friends. That and I needed a 10,000th thread because I knew if I posted the Taxi Report I originally had planned that I�d be too depressed to be happy on our special day.

So know that my love for you even surpasses my fear of the fans who have been expecting a tear jerker of a solider story for some time now and will surely burn me in effigy now in some way if only in their minds.

I suspect they�ll understand. There be good people here.

But you know that because you read DU; you know this place is a source of sanity, and insanity for me and you know the unbelievable generosity of people in here when we�ve been in need. You know also it is a constant source of anguish for me. Truly a double edged sword. I have even tainted you with anger, my rants have become infectious. Too bad it never reaches the public officials we complain to who are supposed to be serving the greater good. I catch you yelling at CNN almost as much as I do. It makes me laugh but inside I�m almost sorry at least one of us couldn�t have remained completely and blissfully ignorant of how fucked up our world is.

You know DU, baby, but they don�t really know you. I won�t tell all but they should know a couple things. Particularly about how amazing you are. Something that I can�t verbalize as well as maybe I once could, due to the fact that Dr. Everythingwill Bealright has me on pills that makes my tongue feel like rubber. I can still tickle the keyboard though so I hope you don�t mind the long read.

DU should know that you�re the most amazing and strongest woman in the world. Add to that beautiful, compassionate and patient to the point of sainthood and they�ll only start to get the picture.

You married me 8 years ago today on a perfect day on the water at my father�s house. I had to wake my best man up because he got drunker than I did the night before, and your maid of honor�s hubby made sure you were significantly late just to fuck with me. It was expected though so I didn�t worry. Besides if you didn�t show up I still had all my friends, a pitcher of bloody marys and a bag of the kind to comfort me. Besides I just would have pulled the whole proposal thing again and you would have said yes a second time.

I�ll tell ya DU, I did it up right. Was about a week or two before Christmas I think? It was supposed to happen on Xmas but I told my mother, and my confidence in her or me not leaking the secret was slim to none so I had to do it sooner.

I think the only way she didn�t know what I was up to was I think I caught her right after work or something.
She had to run an errand or something and I told her to hurry because I wanted to dance with her. I never dance; when I have it is usually under the influence which makes my exceptionally poor skills even more catastrophic. So she comes back and we start to slow dance to one of our favorite songs �Satisfied� by Ian Moore, and after about two turns I kneel down and present the ring to her. She had once said she�d never get married again but she said yes and the rest is history. We had lived together for about four years before and you still said yes. Amazing. You hadn�t had enough of me by then?

I won�t go into any details but suffice it to say that I�ve not been a day at the beach for Mrs. Shadow. She�s had many an opportunity and more than good reason to run for the hills and she has chosen the road of hope and love and it�s more than I deserve but I accept it with open arms.

My current round of problems is no picnic either I know baby and I know you�re as frustrated and probably as messed up as I am in your own way. But you are my strength and I need you to hold the line just a bit longer. I�ve had to admit some scary things to myself and to you and we don�t know the end of the road yet but know that I love you above all.

No marriage is easy probably but I hope you judge it by the good times outweighing the bad and that they still do for you because they do for me. I�m sure I�m not much fun these days being so doomy and gloomy but as I said before, even if the world continues to go to shit, there�s no one I�d rather spend the end of all things with.

Thank you for eight wonderful years Mrs. Shadow and I�ll gladly be here for eight more and more if you�ll have me and if the criminals in power leave us that long of a future.
