Official: New Law Reducing Number Of Voters
Official: New Law Reducing Number Of Voters

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida's Secretary of State describes a new law as crazy because it's contributing to a decline in the number of registered voters in the state.

The latest voting information reveals an unexpected contradiction: Florida's population is growing, but its voter rolls are shrinking.

The number of registered voters statewide has dropped about 150,000 since last November. Today there are just over ten million voters in Florida.

Voter rolls are getting smaller mainly because of a state law that dumps people off voting lists if they failed to update their address after a move and then did not vote in two consecutive elections.

The new law makes it harder to contact those inactive voters. Elections officials are required to send reminders to the voters' old mailing addresses, instead of their new ones.

2. That was the plan, wasn't it?
Or do they mean it's dumping Republicans, too?

3. Ah Florida, when (if) we make PR a state we should make FL a territory
that way we don't have to change our flags, and FL can take some well needed time to figure out democracy for a while without screwing up our national elections.

4. Brilliant, would that get rid of the two senators who voter for FISA
...and BushCo's NSA law last Friday (Bill Nelson Dem and Martinez ReThug)? As a 37 year Floridian I am so ashamed of Bill Nelson going over to the enemy on this one. :hurts:

5. Why would they do this?
"The new law makes it harder to contact those inactive voters. Elections officials are required to send reminders to the voters' old mailing addresses, instead of their new ones."

Well, I know why... but it's so ridiculous, only a Repuklican could have thought this one up.
