A report from the front lines - Railroad Square, Keene, NH
Did my usual "stop the war" lit table this morning. Mine is a very unscientific survey, but here is what I'm noticing:

1. People are really pissed at the Dems. There is more cynicism, more "what good will it do" comments.

2. The "there will be a bloodbath if we leave" and "they'll follow us here" folks were out in force today. There are people who tell me that we will be in the middle east for at least a generation because this is a clash of religions a fight for our very way of life, they tell me.

I'm thinking that the Republican spin is working and the regular folks on our side are flagging. Even the activists, like me, are feeling very discouraged.

Not a good week.

1. I am gettting a lot of "do you want them to come over here" from people
I did not expect that sort of thinking from.

2. Just a bit of encouragement.
Hang in there Raven.
I'm awash in good ol' boy beliefs here in southwestern North Carolina, and admittedly not too optimistic lately.
At least you got a pretty place to set up your table.
My late wife was from Marlborough, and went to school there in Keene (among other places.)Haven't been there since two summers back, but can picture your table on the street there.
I wish you good weather and receptive ears from passers by.

4. Thanks! Where did your wife live in Marlborough. I'm up
on Stone Pond. I'll take your advice and not be discouraged...yet!

5. The family home is at Bemis Court
up the hill behind where the old funeral parlor was. It was an internet cafe when I was last there in July of 2005.
Her Mom and sisters still live there. The Richardsons.

3. Would be great if Beltway Dems had a message on Iraq
but they don't have a PR campaign going on why we need to get out of Iraq.

Do they even have talking points or an elevator speech?

Why don't our Dem leaders fight?
