Only WE can stop the war & the tyranny.
We have to stop the madness, they sure won't, will they?

I don't know how, I don't have a clue how to restore some sense of honor and sanity to the government of America, but I'm tired of fucking waiting on some bullshit elected officials to do it, we asked them to do it, we begged them, we supported them with our money and our time and our votes and they've left us out here to suck it.

No one is coming to save us, not Jesus, not the Democrats, no one is coming to help we the people.

Only we can turn this shit around, but we've got to find a way to do it, and soon.

1. Torches And Pitchforks?
I've been waiting for years to see people stop talking and doing some walking. A couple years ago I thought that was finally happening as people got together for the first Cindy Sheehan candle lighting vigil (I was there, proudly)...and then what? There was a march in Washington that turned into a rally for every cause BUT Iraq and little else. People bitch and bitch, but ask them to get involved in a campaign or get up from behind the keyboard and they couldn't be bothered...they've got "more important things to do" or "these people aren't worth my time".

I know what I'm doing...I'm already have begun working with campaigns and spent the last two days at YKos meeting and talking with several strong possibilities for next year. The only answer to end the abuses is to exile the Repugnican party to the ashheap of history. The only party positioned to do it right now is the Democratic party. Now if there are Democrats who fail to deliver on promises then that'll be taken into account at the next election. My sole priority at this point is to ensure a complete Repugnican defeat next year and see where the chips fall.

As you ask. What other alternative is there? Grab guns and take to the streets? Yeah, right. Dare I say that a lot of activism stops at the rivers edge around here these days. It's fine to vent...we all need to do it...but it's how you vent that matters. Just fuming on a message board is adds to a problem, not a solution.

2. Stop buying into it.
Edited on Sat Aug-04-07 01:41 AM by vmaus
Pay off all your debts, pull all your money out of investments, out of banks, out of credit cards. Buy, consume, and use what is only necessary and sell off or discard everything else. Establish, promote, and perfect a lifestyle of minimalism to starve the beast. Hunker down.

3. You are exactly right...
Edited on Sat Aug-04-07 01:42 AM by Blue_In_AK
We were just talking about that very thing here tonight. It's imperative that we simplify now, grow as much of our own food as we can, pay off the debts, and like you say hunker down. Tune in, turn on and drop out. :hippie: But don't forget to vote and work to elect progressive people with new ideas. The old ways just don't work anymore. We've got to rejoin the human race because we're all in this together.

4. Oh, yes... by all means - continue to ACT
by voting, and supporting progressive agendas and candidates... but the rest of them... nothing. The hypocrites, the liars, the con artists... they get nothing. We, the People are the final branch of government... the final guarantors of checks and balances. We have a duty to implement change when tyranny threatens.

5. just watched Zeitgeist-- essential background to
understanding what is happening: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=928518742089256264

As long as the masses insist on being blind and watching and accepting what they are fed on the tv, there is not much hope to do more than protect yourself and quit feeding the beast. I wonder what it could possibly take to move the masses before we are all doomed. The tempo of horrors has certainly been accelerating.

I too, wish I knew what could be done.

in love, courage and unity, and make those who kill and destroy for profit irrelevant and repentent.

Build relationships with those you trust now and work to build foundations with other good decent people.

Its going to get a little bumpy on this ride.
