A cspan republican caller from Chester, Pennsylvania on yesterday told the cspan moderator this. I don't know who he was correcting but the moderator was Susan Swain and she did not prounounce with incorrect as this jerk suggested.

What an ass!

2. "Pasty" White People?
Are they better or worse than white people who sit out in the sun and risk skin cancer?

4. You make a good point.
Perhaps "doughy" would have been a better word. Of course, that's bound to offend the bakers here. ;)

9. it's about the same
Speaking as a pasty white person, it's about the same 'cause we sit indoor all day long reading and writing, never getting exercise.

3. That was uncalled for

5. in other words, Southern accents are wrong and unAmerican.
Perhaps we should undertake a language purity campaign to stamp them out.

Sheesh... who knows what the Stalinist Right will come up with next?

8. I like dialects...
As long as they aren't fake (like Bush's) I find variations in language quite interesting. It's sad that someone had nothing better to do than to call up c-span to complain about a perceived 'error.'

That would have left 'wit' out.
