General Wes Clark: Billions Better Spent on U.S. Than Iraq

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2007/08/03/clark-billions-better-spent-on-us-than-iraq/

Liberal bloggers gathered at the Chicago convention center this morning heard retired Gen. Wesley Clark deliver a fiery speech that focused mostly on Bush administration’s efforts on the Iraq War with its surge strategy and broader U.S. policy in the region.

“Mr. President we’re not questioning the generals, we’re questioning you,” Clark thundered at one point, bringing the crowd to its feet. “Stop hiding behind Dave Petraeus and come out and defend your strategy. It’s your strategy. You defend it.” Clark said that if it were up to him, he’d pull two Army brigades back by Christmas because he thinks the Army is overcommitted.

In reference to the tragic bridge collapse in Minneapolis Wednesday, Clark said the U.S. would have been better off spending some of the billions spent on Iraq on U.S. infrastructure instead. “If just a fraction of that money had been put into infrastructure in America, we might have saved 30 or 40 lives,” he said.

4. It was beyond Smirk's ability to defend Texas from the Viet Cong.
Smirk couldn't defend shit in an outhouse ... no matter how at home he is there.

5. The sad fact is that they wouldn't have spent the money at all.
All of the Iraq money isn't real anyway, it's all borrowed or printed, "off the books". The only time they spend like that is when they have a gun to their heads.
