DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced Thursday that it has bought two aviation service providers from US-based Carlyle Group at a cost of $1.9 billion.
DAE, based in the Gulf emirate of Dubai, said that it had completed "the acquisition of aviation service providers Standard Aero and Landmark Aviation from the Carlyle Group.
"DAE will merge the companies as a business enterprise within its DAE Engineering subsidiary. The transaction, valued at $1.9 billion, brings together two of the world's leading maintenance, repair, and overhaul
providers," the statement said.
"The closing of this acquisition is an important step forward in the business and investment relationships between Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States," said DAE chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
"The combination of Standard Aero and Landmark Aviation will create a global aviation services network of 12 primary facilities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Singapore, and Australia with an additional 14 regionally located service and support locations," the statement said.
