Racial slurs spoil youth trip
Racial slurs spoil youth trip
A white member is taken into custody after threatening group.
By DEIRDRE CONNER, The Times-Union

A Clay County church was left shaken after a racially charged episode during a Sunday field trip.

A youth group from St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Orange Park was at the bowling alley at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station when an outburst from one of the members forced them to leave and call the police.

The boy, who is white, began bombarding the other kids and leaders with racial slurs and threatened to blow up the bus they rode on, shoot everyone on the trip and burn down the church itself, according to reports from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The bizarre confrontation happened during the youth ministry's back-to-school trip. It was the boy's first time with the church group, Pastor C. Edward Preston said Monday.

<snip>

"Any and all are welcome at the church," he said.

3. Why was a civilian church group using a military bowling alley???
Hell, with all this Terra, Terra, Terra, you have to show your ID, get the dog to go over your car, and see the fucking proctologist before they let you on base...and here we have a civilian church group with a crazyass kid in its' midst utilizing the military MWR facilities?

What's up with that???? Is it a civilian-run facility adjoining the base, with open access? If that's the case, why call it the base bowling alley???

Something's not right here. May seem like a small point, but really, it isn't.

I get the feeling there just might be a like-minded evangelical chaplain in the chaplain's office onbase, signing on this group to the base for a cheap outing--partially funded by the taxpayers, because facility costs go on the appropriated funds side of things.

Who's happy about funding church trips to military bowling alleys??? Not ME!!!!!!

You seem to know more about it than I do.

Why don't you drop an email to Americans United for the Separation of Church and State?

4. I'm beginning to get seriously bummed out
As if with all of the problems the world is facing, we just don't have enough hatred.

Because hate is always in season ... in hell.
