Very powerful quote I found on C&L - From a true Republican
There is an article and video on CrooksandLiars.com about the largest Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO) junkyard in Iraq. Here is a link to the article. Well worth the look..

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/07/27/military-video-shows-drmo-junkyard/#comments

What caught my eye though was an entry in the comments from Bookem Danno:

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Remember when Republicans cared about the republic?

1. I grew up in such a household
But the tide started to turn in the mid seventies as GREED broke out.

Anyway it is good to remember that their are John Dean and Bruce Fein's out there.

Unelss we get some of those types on our side, the IMPEACHMENT movement will not go far.

(Hagle (R) voted with the Dems on their latest Iraq resolution that failed 52 to 48.

Does anyone know how he feels about impeachment?? )

3. Well, he's the guy who brought it up--much to the delight of Nebraska Republicans!
I recall him saying on Meet the Press a few weeks ago that his support would depend on the strength and merits of the case, if articles were introduced. I'm impressed that he's still speaking about it in public, frankly.

2. He didn't care much for the Military-Industrial complex either,
but I don't think many people heard him.

5. A Republican that didn't care for the Military Industrial Complex?!?
Nowadays that's an oxymoron. Ike was the last Republican my father ever supported because they'd both served in WW2 and he felt that Ike was the last Republican to stand up more for the common guy than the corporation.

4. Amazing to believe a Republican (a still-revered one) actually said that--
how warped and poisoned that party has become.
