Rove to House GOP: Don't blame your woes on Bush's war, blame it on Cunningham, Foley

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=21712

Rove's Diagnosis
by Robert Novak

Karl Rove, President Bush's political lieutenant, told a closed-door meeting of 2008 Republican House candidates and their aides Tuesday that it was less the war in Iraq than corruption in Congress that caused their party's defeat in the 2006 elections.

Rove's clear advice to the candidates is to distance themselves from the culture of Washington. Specifically, Republican candidates are urged to make clear they have no connection with disgraced congressmen such as Duke Cunningham and Mark Foley.
In effect, Rove was rebutting the complaint inside the party that George W. Bush is responsible for Republican miseries by invading Iraq.

If I have one hope today, it would be that those present at that meeting finally came to the realization that Karl Rove is full if shit.

... wouldn't that mean they'd have to sever all ties with the White House?

19. Rove's PPT has Rs winning more 2008 seats with a "War President"
No kidding, the PPT that is the subject of the Hatch Act violations actually shows the Rs winning more Congressional races with w/ a war Prez!

A rethink on planning to have a "war President" in 2008 is in order! What incredible hubris.

The "genius" got it wrong, but he is in denial.

25. Rove is a GENIUS!
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 04:59 PM by ejbr
We have to remember that he is telling this to people who believe exposing Plame was not treasonous, that terrorists hate us for our freedoms, that torture is a successful form of interrogation and that the Iraq War is going so well that we should give it more time to pan out. He probably has convinced at least half of them that indeed Foley and Cunningham are to blame for their problems. I am actually very impressed with this tactic by Rove. I mean, he IS dealing with idiots after all.

26. Notice that he failed to mention Abramov?
The reason Rove started the US Attorney purge is that these Attorneys were uncovering and even prosecuting Repugs for various crimes while not going after Dems, even if no crimes by Dems were being committed. This is what the Congress is attempting to expose regarding the Busholini Regime. That is why the stonewalling by Repugs is happening. Documents that are still being withheld that will expose many crimes of the Regime.
