1. I'd prefer "Why Was Pat Tillman Murdered?"
... and why was his diary burned? Who benefitted from that?

2. And why was his uniform burned?
There was no logical reason to do it.

If this was investigated properly, there should have been repercussions for destroying evidence.

5. If there's a hero from this sordid mess it should be him
I remember first hearing about him when he turned down a huge contract with the Rams because he wanted to stick with his team. I thought, "wow, that's pretty damn unusual, for an athlete to have loyalty to his team nowadays." Hell, even Johnny Damon went to the hated Yankees (cursed be his name forever...) I didn't really hear anything about his enlistment until he had died, but I remember thinking that at least somebody with power and privilege had decided to join the rest of us (I was either in Iraq or in Kuwait when I heard -- it was April of '04 so I must have been in Kuwait).

And then the story started falling apart, bit by bit. People have covered that unraveling more thoroughly than I could so I won't waste space with it; I will say what sold me on the BS of the official story was when I found out his diary got torched. I don't particularly buy the assassination angle because of his anti-Iraq views; I do buy that somebody in his chalk got fed up with having to play second-fiddle to an NFL star.

9. Please save the sarcasm. Pat Tillman's "friendly fire" death deserves a serious investigation.

13. Trying to think like the military thinks.
The military often covers up fuck ups and scandals with lies, like when a dead sailor was blamed for an explosion on a battleship, they claimed the guy was attempting suicide and blew up a big gun. They tried to make it look like a crazy sailor did it, and they were proven wrong. But the sailor's grieving family were given only lies and slander regarding the death of their son.

It's obvious to me he was fragged by his own troops. And it's obvious there is a lousy cover up going on.

Leave me to my sarcasm, this ain't congress, just folks typing in the night.

7. I think that this story has "legs"
It's the kind of story that will get the public's attention. The Bush's propped him up as an American Hero and it's going to come back to bite them big time.

14. Many Americans still believe that he was a Hero.
In a way he was heroic by giving up a lucrative football contract to risk his life in what he perceied as protecting America. The Military and the Bushoini Regime have disgraced themselves in this matter and many others.

15. If memory serves, didn't Bush himself reference Tillman's "heroic" death?
Was Bush at his big hoopla burial ceremony?
