BREAKING ON CNN: Democratic senators want to investigate whether Gonzales lied
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A group of Senate Democrats on Thursday will call for a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales perjured himself during Capitol Hill testimony.

The group said it plans to make the request in a letter to the solicitor general.

The development came just before Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer, Russ Feingold, Sheldon Whitehouse and Dianne Feinstein were set to hold a news conference on Gonzales' testimony before the Judiciary Committee this week.

It's the latest salvo in a dispute regarding President Bush's domestic surveillance program. On Wednesday night, the Justice Department said Gonzales "stands by" Senate testimony that appeared to contradict a memo about a White House meeting with congressional leaders in 2004.

Gonzales testified under oath Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the March 10, 2004, meeting -- when Gonzales was White House counsel -- was not prompted by the Bush administration's program to monitor communications with terror suspects overseas without warrants...

9. I Bet You're Wrong
What makes you think they have 60 votes on ANYTHING?

I give you one guess as to which way Lieberman will vote, and so the Dems need about 11 repubs. They make get a handful, but the FACISTS in their party will hold together with King george.

8. I think it would be nice to have
members of the party of integrity on record against an investigation into gonzo. That would make a great campaign ad and I bet some gopers are thinking about that as I hunt and peck.

15. Big News Story That MSM Doesn't Really Want To Cover.......
CNN broke away and didn't finish the news conference just as Diane Feinstein began to speak. I quickly jumped to MSNBC and then to Faux - but neither was showing the conference.

The CNN news chick - provided comments of Tony Snow as they stopped showing the news conference.

Again - we're only getting what they want us to get - better we be mushrooms.

17. It's discouraging as all hell. Can't get real news anywhere when it's
breaking unless these cretins think it's relevant. And who decided this wasn't?

16. I feeeel your pain...LOL!
The first place I checked was MSNBC...nada. Then CNN...wow! I caught a whole three minutes (or less).

I was streaming CSPAN3 hearing on Nussle's confirmation to OMB. (Wonder if his blackberry is going crazy with the market sell-off.) At least Conrad is sticking it to him about continuing the disastrous policies.

Time to go ahead and get a shower before Conyers' hearing at 1:30 EDT.

Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 11:02 AM by madmunchie
Come on, how STUPID is that?????? Investigating ....Gonzales.....Lie...... How much friggin money and time is going to wasted on this newest lie? How many lies have we caught them in already? How many investigations are we going to start and NEVER REALLY FINISH???

The only headline to a thread that I want to see about the Democratic Senator/Reps is when they start Impeachment Proceedings! This other bullshit is just a waste of time - they are playing us!

22. You are missing the point! All of the investigations aren't going
to change the problem. Nothing will change because of them, how many investigations have gone nowhere so far????? The major issues aren't being acted upon and the sideline issues are distracting from the major issues. Until we get out of Iraq and keep voting and voting thru all of the vacations and time off is the only thing that counts. Until we impeach Bush and Cheney for all of the crimes that THEY committed all of this other stuff is just babysitting the general public's thirst for justice.
