We can always remove the option rule prior to finishing the Senate 110th session (before the elections) - because the filibuster for Iraq is ridiculous and stupid. It's time to hold the Rethugs out to dry.

Reid is smart, he can do that. He's just chicken.

1. I think Reid and the Dems should pull out all the stops now.
Do whatever must be done, but put an end to this ridiculous lie of a war.

NOT ONE MORE DEAD TROOP! THE WAR IN IRAQ IS A LIE!!

2. The nuclear option only applied to confirmations
which is why Repubs threatened it for the SCOTUS nominees.

There is no "nuclear option" for normal bills.

4. the 'nuclear' option is a bunch of BS that should be tabled by both sides
they just need to quit talking about it. The law should be revised so that there can be NO nuclear option for either side, IMO.

6. It's not a "law" ... it's a Senate rule.

8. fair enough, I'm not really an expert on Senate protocol, however
the idea that one party can threaten another into submission using such things as the 'nuclear' option is bogus. Change the rule/by-law/law -- whatever -- so that it is simply no longer an option.

5. It's not possible with only 50 senators
49+Bernie- surely you don't count Lyerman as a Dem Senator?

7. In the meantime
if the Senate takes up other business - I think that every Dem who gets ont he floor to make a speech should begin it with a 5-10 names of those from their states who died in Iraq...
