'I Am the Mother of the Driver' - Troops Families Angry-React to ABC Footage
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 10:20 PM by RamboLiberal
----

"We got grenades going off, we've got an IED blowing up your vehicle … and then, you are expected to go back in those four to six, four to five hours … and relax!" said Cpl. Joshua Lake, 2nd Infantry Division. "You just don't have time to do it. Your body never gets to come down. You're always on that heightened sense of alertness."

Until Monday night's report, Lake's mother had not heard her son's voice in a month.

"He's up for hours at a time. He can't sleep because his body is so tense when he comes back, and you know there's no way of laying down," Debbie Lake-McMahon told ABC News. "He said that he lays there and his body just trembles."

----

"I am the mother of the driver of the Bradley you see upside down and burning," she wrote. "He was 19 years old and could see the futility of Iraq invasion and occupation."

Another relative of a fallen soldier wrote, "For one moment, we captured the sense of fear, hate, anxiety, stress, depression that befell our beloved one. We miss him. I am so angry, because after all of this — the sacrifice — Bush and his supporters have not moved forward on this."

Of course the Bushbots had to weigh in - Many of you criticized ABC News and said we were focusing only on the negative, and called it "irresponsible and cowardly reporting."

Why don't they f'ing go to Iraq and join that soldier who wanted Bush or any of the war-supporting-politicians to join him for 15 months.

1. BushCo has neither heart nor gut to face the carnage it has caused.
I think I'd like to see a video of BushCo people talking while blood just wells and drips from them and seven maids with seven mops come in to try and stem the gush of blood.

3. that segment, which was by a BBC person wasn't it? hit me
harder than any has in a long time.

The absolute futility came through.

And the incredible suffering. On all sides.

This needs to get seen by every person in the usa.

6. Walk in my moccasins - as the saying goes - I don't wish it on anyone!
As the mother of 2 sons who have served in Iraq 1 and 2 with one going again in a few months unless a miracle happens, you do not want to walk in my moccasins! I don't wish it on any mother, father, sister, brother, friend, or child! It should have never happened! We belong in Afghanistan not Iraq and for God sake don't send us into WWIII with Iran!!!!!!

10. My heart is with you and your sons...
May every Mother's child come home safe. I am sorry that I haven't been able to stop the blood thirsty criminals who are breaking this Country and our Military. I will keep on trying.

7. I'm glad they showed the horrors of real war, not sanitized footage.
Good for ABC. It's reality and we'll have to deal with it.

12. right the opposite
you are a shining example of what Patriotic is, Actually.
I love the people who were in the streets protesting the 'Nam war as much as I do my fellow Soldiers. We didn't win nor did we get us out of VN, they did. I will be forever indebted to them for their bravery. I think many of my Comrades think the same too.
