What they're really saying is that it's fine for them to do whatever they like so long as they burst into tears publically and say "Oh SORRY SORRY SORRY I was so WRONG!!!!" and then they can just go off and go back to doing whatever they like.

It's never the transgression itself that they feel bad about, it's being found out. They even think themselves that it IS the transgression but none of their thoughts bend towards the injured party, it's always about themselves being berated publically by a giant ectoplasmic prison warden, even in their darkest private nightmares away from the cameras.

They are sufficiently screwed up inside that they can even carry the idea that it's the sorrow for the transgression that counts AND never feel any actual sorrow for the actual transgression. They just don't notice that that's what their doing. They aren't trained to look for logical inconsistencies in their own thoughts, only perceived ones in other peoples. They don't have to, see? Cos they already KNOW that it's the sorrow for the transgression that counts, and those damn liberals DON'T! And it's all about CONTRADICTING THOSE DAMN LIBERALS!

Their position: DOING bad stuff is FINE, so long as you FEEL BAD about doing it. Its all about YOU and your personal, *personal*, PERSONAL relationship with GOD.

It's nothing to do with anyone else. You fuck 'em over, that's their problem. The real injured party is you, because you have let yourself down in the eyes of God! You screw up someone else's life? Tough shit! They should be feeling sorry for YOU, because you feel bad.

"Oh, I killed your kids? Don't you understand, you unsympathetic victim, that this is really a terrible thing that has happened to ME?"

THAT is how they think.

They don't think about the transgression. They aren't genuinely interested in the transgression, even if they think they are.

All they're interested in is how the transgression makes them LOOK. All of their thoughts about their transgressions relate to some way in which it is seen or dealt with publically, everything in their rotten little cabbage brains is about THEM. They don't give a shit about anyone else! Even when they think they do! When (more like "if") they think about causing suffering to someone else it's only in the form of a sort of internal monologue recited to an imaginary public/ectoplasmic prison warden with the intended result of being forgiven and HAVING THEIR STATUS RESTORED! They don't give a fuck about anything
else!

And it doesn't just apply to the politicians.

Not that anybody here needs me to tell them any of this.
