John Lennon's glasses up for sale

A pair of gold-rimmed, wire sunglasses worn by Beatle John Lennon have come up for auction at a British website and could fetch more than $US1.5 million.

The iconic glasses, put up for bid late last week at website 991.com, belonged to a Japanese television producer named Junishi Yore.

A description on the website says Yore was a translator for the Beatles in 1966.

Several media reports say bids as high as $US1.5 million have been made, although that could not be confirmed.
