1. The Dems will be watching
If enough Repugs leave the scene, they can call for a floor vote on cloture (stopping the filibuster). If the Repugs are gone, the Dems have the cloture votes to stop the filibuster.

4. Democrats need 60 votes to proceed, the minority doesn't need 41
All they need is one senator to object to a unanimous consent motion that would bring the bill up for a vote.
