At the conclusion of the service, the UT band played "The Eyes of Texas". Many, many people in the audience sang and showed the Hook'Em Horns sign. There was no disrespect.

65. Read "Bush on the Couch"
It will open your eyes.

By the time Robin died Bush already had a mother who was emotionally elsewhere. Children resent it when the mother is absent, and Bush’s resentment would have grown stronger in the face of his mother’s grief after Robin’s death. If George’s feelings were never addressed – and it is clear from numerous family accounts that the parents didn’t have a funeral and never talked to George about the loss – his natural animosity toward his sister would have remained unresolved; he would have been left with a host of forbidden feelings that were too threatening to acknowledge, only furthering the process of having to disavow these unwanted aspects of himself. He was deprived of the opportunity to learn to mourn, to heal. In that deprivation lays the kernel of what has by now become Bush’s knee-jerk reaction of denying responsibility for anything that goes wrong. He can’t allow it to be his fault.

Nancy Reagan is extremely frail yet she took the time to honor a former first lady. I give her a lot of credit for showing.

Bush, no doubt, was far too busy playing video games and riding his trike. Besides, he doesn't "honor" anyone except himself and his rich pals.

46. Poppy didn't attend either?
Hmmmmm, I can understand Betty Ford not making it, she looked very frail at her husband's funeral. But Dayum, one of them should have been there.

51. The exclusive club of former Presidents and
first ladies is very small. There is no excuse for the chimp and chimp sr. not to show up. If chimp has time for numerous fundraising events and vacations, he can spare a couple of hours to honor a former first lady. What a low-life shitbag he is.

59. I'm actually surprised Laura showed up
The elder Bush criminals had very little to do with Lady Bird, and as far as I can tell this crowd has had zero contact with her. It was possibly Lady Bird's call, but I find it odd that the only two first ladies from Texas had absolutely no contact with each other. It's not as though Lady Bird hasn't been active in the last few years - she appeared at the LBJ Library about a year ago with Kay Bailey Hutchison.

86. I find the seating arrangements fascinating
The front row seems to have three separate groups--Bill & Hillary/Laura/Nancy Reagan and the Carters. Jimmy and Bill seem to be giving Laura wide birth. There is even a picture of Nancy greeting Jimmy Carter with a pat to the forehead. I would paste it here but I don't know how to get it to copy. http://news.yahoo.com/photo/070714/480/45e9097a4b324613b39bda3b77150cb4

What's really weird is that Babs has been regulated to the second row with the children of presidents. Just makes me wonder whats going on behind the scenes.

113. I've tried and as best I can tell,
Reagan and his wife and Ford and his wife attended Pat Nixon's funeral, but Lady Bird Johnson nor Jackie Kennedy Onassis did not (Lady Bird was in the hospital following a stroke; Jackie's reasons are less clear). I can't find any indication that Bill Clinton attended. I'm going to assume Hillary did, but to be honest, I haven't been able to find anything indicating that she did.

100. What I find so strange ...
What I find so strange is that normally, Bush seems to go to his ranch in Texas every chance he gets. It seems odd that he didn't use Lady's Bird's funeral as an "excuse" to visit the ranch.

As a former governor of Texas and the current president, he should have been there to pay his respects to the widow of a former president from Texas, period. He has Air Force One at his disposal.

Surely he realized his absence would be noticed.

109. White and grey are both acceptable, according to the Victorians.
I've seen navy blue, white and grey - and mixtures of black and white/black and grey - at summer funerals. The only reason you notice Nancy Reagan is because most people in the picture wore dark colors -black, grey, blue or burgandy (Babs - blue, Susan Ford - burgandy).
In the Navy, Service Dress Whites are usually worn at summer burials at sea.

115. Statement From Betty Ford, Who Could Not Attend
This is just a note to mention the wonderful statement that Betty Ford issued on Wednesday night, on the death of Lady Bird. Betty Ford, sadly, was not able to attend the funeral because of her own health; one of the last decent Republicans. "I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Lady Bird Johnson. She was a dedicated and devoted First Lady. Her beautification programs benefited the entire nation. She translated her love for the land and the environment into a lifetime of achievement. President Ford and I considered Lady Bird a dear friend and she will be badly missed." What a contrast with the current Republican Party.
