Lakehills man gets 80 years for crippling baby
Lakehills man gets 80 years for crippling baby
by Judith Pannebaker
Bandera County, Texas

Approximately 25 months after a Lakehills man, in a fit of temper, nearly killed his girlfriend’s then-5-month-old son, little Dalton Oliver finally received justice.

On Thursday, June 28, Jeffrey Thompson, 35, was sentenced to an 80-year prison term for the crippling injuries he delivered to his girlfriend’s baby in May 2005. Now two and a half years old, the toddler is blind and remains unable to walk, talk or eat on his own.

During the two-day trial in Boerne and in earlier interrogations, Thompson had maintained the child’s injuries had occurred accidentally. However, his defense became problematic due to an inability to settle upon a single version of the self-described “accident.”

3. Last night at work
a co-worker shared with me a horrific story about his ex-girlfriend, his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend, and his daughter. To make a long story short, they suspect the man killed the child but couldn't even determine cause of death, so he got away with it.

This sort of stuff is truly terrible.

4. Cheaper just to stake him out in the desert, but I'll bow to majority
in applauding this sentence.
