Interesting column re: duke lacrosse called where is the outcry now?
Our local paper, the Raleigh News and Observer has a black columnist who tackles black issues in Raleigh and the country. Here is a really interesting read about a case in Florida versus the Duke Lacrosse case:

A letter-writer, pointing out civil rights leaders' initial outrage over the later discredited rape case against Duke lacrosse players, mockingly asked me why black leaders weren't equally upset over the barbarism police say was inflicted upon a woman and her 12-year-old son in Florida.

Was it because the victims, as well as the suspects, were black?

Yep, I said.

One night last month, police say, 10 masked teenage thugs -- at least the three arrested so far were ages 14, 15 and 16 -- forced their way into the family's West Palm Beach apartment and raped and sodomized the mother for hours and at gunpoint forced her to perform a sex act on her son.

Forget al-Qaeda. Forget, even, the KKK. The most fear-inducing person among many blacks is a dad-less, hip-hop-raised black boy with no sense of conscience or history.

I mean, it's not that a child could EVEN learn to respect women, what with having to watch his mother sweat her ass off raising a child on her own. I mean, a boy or girl never witnesses violence caused by a man in those two parent families........they ALWAYS learn to treat women with respect. :eyes:

4. I think its more about an attitude and lifestyle rather than single parent.
I think it has more to do with economic class and what is expected of you or what you can get away with.

This attack is just plain disgusting.

2. That story was one of the most horrible I've heard.
That woman and her son will be scarred for life - possibly ruined. I would agree with this author enough to say that the race activists who made such waves over the Lacrosse case would do well to examine the causes and particulars of this case - in a way that might bring attention to whatever is motivating such horrors. It's more than poverty, to be sure.

3. How do start fixing some of the things that are so wrong with America?
This story is sad and horrible. Its like the book, Lord of the Flies... deserted on an island, what will the most civilized do. Too many are deserted on islands in America.
