Republican Representative Arrested For Soliciting Sex In Titusville Public Restroom

Authorities said state Rep. Bob Allen of Merritt Island offered an undercover police officer money for sex in a bathroom stall at Sand Point Park in Titusville.

Allen was arrested and charged with solicitation for prostitution.

Police said they've had considerable trouble with similar acts at the park and that it has developed a reputation as a location where men go to pick up other men. Law enforcement said they noticed Allen acting suspiciously near the bathrooms at the park, so they sent a detective into the stall. Police said Allen followed him and offered the man $20 for a sex act.

and, although I am not automatically against closet gays who are Repugs, they just haven't got to the level of a Log Cabin Republican, I will repeat what I heard on local news in Central Florida this morning. Allen spoke to the press briefly and said it was a misunderstanding, and he thought the police were only doing their job.

Maybe he made a rude comment to the undercover cop, and the cop over-reacted. Or maybe he really was intent on soliciting oral sex from another man.

His website only lists education credentials as a community college grad, had he carried a blue-blooded last name, I'm sure it would have been an Ivy League school on his resume instead of a junior college. That doesn't mean he's dumb, it only means he is NOT rich and dumb.

because he was a Repug congressman. They only arrested him after he (allegedly) made a statement to another man, about engaging in oral sex in a public bathroom stall.

If he was a Dem, I suspect they would have pounced on him as soon as he (or his prospective sexual partner - depending on who was going to 'give' or 'receive') pulled the pants down. This would have been photographed and a lot harder to wiggle out of.

All they appear to have for evidence is a voice recording, unless there is more to it than what is being reported, I suppose Allen wouldn't need a lot of legal financing to get out of this one.
