Do You Believe America is a Plutocracy?
A plutocracy is defined (in the modern sense) as a form of government where power is centralized by corporations. Or a form of government where corporations wield too much power in federal policies and decision-making. I think this can be seen in NAFTA, outsourcing, Blackwater, the Military-Industrial Complex (Halliburton, etc), lobbying, healthcare (in America anyway), money in political campaigns, PACs, etc.

Plutocracy is a form of corporatism. Or when corporatism starts to effect the government. Rampant, unchecked corporatism can also lead to fascism.

8. Eisenhower warned against the military-industrial complex in 1961.
The US has been a plutocracy (as defined) since WWII at least. Ray-gun set the course toward hard-core fascism.

5. Plutocracy is in fact rule by the wealthy not by corporations
Now in our current set up the Corporations are the wealthy, but obviously there were earlier times when the wealthy had nearly as much power and influence as we have now.

I think there are some necessary steps that need to be taken to limit corporate power - like electoral reform and media reform.

15. I would say rampant, unchecked corporatism. When they have taken control of the DoJ
it's past the point of plutocracy-it's definitely unchecked.
