Poll question: True or False: Any Dem candidate is better than any Repuke.
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 04:44 PM by Nutmegger
Edit: This question pertains to the current candidates and those who are likely to throw their hat it. It excludes the LIEberMe's and Zell Millers.

Sorry for the murky question. Feel free to :spank: me.

1. By "any" you mean the current crop of Dem. and Rep. candidates?
If that's the case, then "true."

11. unless you get something implausible like Lieberman vs Chafee...
Any Democrat, even Mrs Clinton, is tons better than the most cuddly, repackaged post-convention moderate of a Republican.

Any DUer saying they'll vote for a Republican rather than our nominee after the convention deserves to be tombstoned.

12. Go, Democrats.
You lurking Republican voters enjoy Tom Coburn, Saxby Chambliss, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, Ernie Fletcher, Rick Perry, Norm Coleman, and all the other luminaries on your ballots.

19. Yeah.
With so much hanging in the balance, the question becomes: which machine do we want in the majority? An individual Democrat could have a criminal record a mile long, and voting for him/her could still be an imperative.

20. I Voted True
I voted that I would vote for any Democrat over any Republican. Obviously, if some wildly progressive Republican ran against some horribly right-wing Democrat, I would vote for the Republican but that just isn't the way it is. All the Democrats are better than all the Republicans.

I come from a state, Texas, now Republican but when I was young it was a completely Democratic state. The Democrats/Dixiecrats were THE conservatives. Some openly belonged to the Klan. ...but that flipped a long time ago and anyone claiming there is any Republican who is better than any Democrat is simply wrong. (Fred Phelps doesn't count. I don't think of him in terms of Right or Left. I think of him in terms of severe mental illness/thundering loony. He does not represent any wing of the Democratic Party.)

22. I could imagine an extremely unlikely scenario that is still only remotely plausible
In which the Democratic nominee could be more prone toward supporting a war against Iran than the Republican candidate. If that were the case then the harm caused by a war with Iran would out-way the benefits of a Democratic candidate who would hold much better positions on almost all other issues.

With that highly unlikely but very remotely possible exception I would agree that: "Any Dem candidate is better than any Repuke"
_____________

"I think of war with Iran as the ending of America's present role in the world. Iraq may have been a preview of that, but it's still redeemable if we get out fast. In a war with Iran, we'll get dragged down for 20 or 30 years. The world will condemn us. We will lose our position in the world."

26. Clearly false in the extreme
In a notional case true, but there are all sorts of extreme examples that destroy the proposition in corners. For example Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps claims to be a Democrat. I would hope no one outside his immediate circle would vote for him over someone like Senator Olympia J. Snowe. An extreme case, but given the absolutist nature of the poll, a legitimate one. The OP should have taken more care with his choice of words.

29. Fred Phelps
Because Fred Phelps says he's a Democrat does not mean that he is one. I don't judge him from Right or Left. I judge him from the perspective of someone extremely mentally ill. He could say he's a chair too and it doesn't mean he is one.

28. OK, glad for the LieberZell qualification.
But just because one was better doesn't mean that one should get the nomination -- nor that I should necessarily vote for her/him if she/he does.

than a Republican, doesn't mean that person would VOTE for a Republican.

Seeing what the pukes have become, I almost wish for one party rule by the Dems.
The (R)'s have become a malignant cancer on this country, and need to be excised.
