Just a question: So what if The Idiot is impeached?
Don't get me wrong - I'm all for impeachment. But I worry that, even if it happens, it won't make any difference. There have only been two presidents impeached in this country during our entire history, and neither of them was removed from office (not saying they should have been, just making the observation.) Nixon quit before he could be impeached.

So, given the fact that we have *never* had a presidential impeachment that led to a president's removal from office, why do we think it would happen now?

I know The Idiot is a criminal; believe me, I'm a full-fledged member of that choir. I want him removed from office and prosecuted for his crimes. I just worry that impeachment won't ultimately lead in that direction.

6. The guy who wrote "Bush on the Couch"
is of the opinion that we'd still be better off with Darth Cheney, since he is evil, but not crazy.

Gotta love a choice between evil and crazy...

2. No one thinks it's going to happen. People want it to. Big difference.

such a great job of it). Cheney? If you have a double impeachment, there's the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Then you'll hear some howls from the right wing about how SHE was NOT ELECTED (if you can stand the irony of THAT statement).

Who will lead and will the new leader be allowed to lead?

5. But But But . . .
Ford wasn't elected, and he healed the nation, or some such shit.

From what I can tell, Pelosi is neither evil nor crazy. Works for me! :)

I could live with the arrangement as well. I'm just anticipating
more contradiction from our friends on the right were that prospect to become reality.

11. If there was any chance of a double impeachment, they'd do what
Nixon did. First Cheney would resign, and Bush would pardon him and appoint his replacement. Probably someone like John McCain.

Then Bush would resign. McCain would be the new President, and he'd pardon Bush.

Pelosi? Not a chance.

15. The current "decider" must not be allowed to lead anymore.
We could deal with 'will she be allowed to lead' when that became the issue, should it ever become the issue.

If he can prove illegal activities, than not only would bush and cheney be able to be impeached they could be removed from office.

8. I know that's how it's supposed to work
I just worry it won't. But at least investigations might make it harder for people to ignore that crimes have taken place, I guess.

12. Right. At the very least, we can keep the Shrub wallowing in his
own dirt for the next two years.

9. It may not need to "do" anything.
Impeachment is the strongest form of censure Congress has at its disposal, and the president would have to reign in his agenda. Even if he were not removed from office, his deadly policies would be neutered. To some degree.

I know that the thought of failure is discouraging, but for me, the question remains: if Congress does not impeach *, just when would they impeach? I would have to wonder just what a president could do to earn a vote of no confidence? If Congress won't impeach, they should give up that power forever.

10. Does a DA worry about the verdict and not prosecute?

13. Actually, yes. A DA is not supposed to bring a case unless
he thinks he can win it.

16. A good DA always worries about the verdict.
If there is no chance of conviction, most DA's will not indict. Why?
A not guilty verdict means the accused goes free, forever on that charge. Impeach Bush and then explain how and where the 67 votes needed to convict in the Senate will come from. Otherwise, Bush will claim he was exonerated and the impeachment was just partisan politics. How much satisfaction with impeachment will there be then?

14. Have to do it right:
bag both Dubya and Cheney, Cheney first. And not approve any Dubya appointment of a new VP.

Then, we would get our first woman prez.
